What's the Last Movie You Watched?

Post by setnom » Fri May 05, 2006 7:47 pm

Battle in Heaven (Mexico,2004) (8/10)

Very interesting movie about Mexico's class structure, and the intertwining and reverse roles the classes take. Very explicit sexual content which seems to becoming more and more common in semi-mainstream films (Irreversible/Ken Park/Brown Bunny). Just a great example of showing the visual conscience of a man self-destructing.
Comes out on NTSC dvd next week, May 9, and is definately worth a viewing.
word to kevin sullivan.

Watched "American History X", had seen it before but thought it a very provocative, well-acted piece. Very sad, but ultimately thoughtful drama on strained race relations in Los Angeles. Thought it a bit Hollywoodised, but after the BNP's "victories" in the UK elections yesterday, I hope it gets seen and changes a few minds.
Hmm....

I watched "Batman Returns" while staying home from work yesterday.

Somehow that movie seemed better when I was 12. Penguin seemed alot scarier...Catwoman seemed alot hotter...I dunno

...the penguin army still kicked ass though....

Yeah, Hostel - weak, very weak. Always on to a loser when you actually want the main characters to die. Hope the Slovakian tourist board sues em dry.
Hmm....

City of God a classic film!

there was a similar spanish film a really short one-it ends with two guys getting shot at a police car-thinking they have survived the day

anyone got a clue what that is? bugging me

its mostly black and white

That is a fucking sick film man, so intense! So much to try to get your head around, when i finished it first time i was just completely dumbstruck! But well worth the effort i reckon

Last film i watched was The Constant Gardener, i thought it was very very good, although completely devastating. Thought-provoking and emotive, incredibly well executed (directed by Fernando Meirelles, who directed City of God) and acted, intriguing and evolving plot, just a deep deep film...i highly recommend it

Watched Wolf Creek the other night, i thought it was pretty darn good....the kidnap dude made the film, creepy as fuck. But it was ruined for me when that girl snuck off and discovered the video recorder, watched it and saw exactly the same shenanigans occur with another family, that part was WEAK.
Got 'La Haine' to watch soon, supposed to be killer!
