ah don't even go there mate, it's narrowminded people who only listen to one type of music getting pissy cos they feel that 'their' music is being threatened.
I honestly can't think of any other reason why dubstep gets so much hate on DOA. There are regular trance love-ins (:6:) but dubstep gets a kicking on a monthly basis.

Meh, DOA is just DOA. Everything gets slated there, no matter what it is.
Some weird things get love there though too, like psytrance.
(Cue some psytrance crew here)

i'm not sure why i read that thread, but i did. three minutes of my life i'll never get back.
interesting that the biggest point of contention with some of them seems to be that its shit because it sounds like drum and bass!

Good response ThinKing.
To be honest, that was more joshing and less vitriolic than I expected. My favorite bit of dubstep hate on DOA is when someone says that it's just a flash-in-the-pan thing and everyone will be listening to whatever the next new sound / variant is in six months. Because presumably it's better to do what a lot of dnb does and keep going with rehashes of the same old cliches for years on end regardless of how predictable and boring it gets - that's
dedication, maaan.

Because it's impossible to like two genres at once isn't it? That would be *complicated*

Haha I have to admit I am an obsessive DnB fan but too like just one type of music is sheer blasphemy! Thats what ruins most types of music as it means (like said before) the same ideas just keep getting rehashed!
The thing what got it for me with Dubstep is that with no other type of Dance music can the pace change so dramatically whilst keeping the BPM the same.
Feels to me like Dubstep is the begining of the "Full Cycle." Everything split early 90's and slowly but surely warm comforting bass is pulling it all back together! Sounds like a romance plot don't it haha!

Some people seem to like more than two, must be a killer balancing that with your work and homelife.

That is
exactly what people were saying about jungle, oh the irony.

You have that discussion on every DnB forum I guess. Its just that a lot of old DnB headz (like myself) got so extremely tired of the formula DnB has become (same thing being done over and over), that they got on the dubstep thing, just BECUZ it indeed has the same atmo Jungle and early DnB had and we all loved (and has dissapeared).
For some reason this gets a lot of people irritated, as if they've got some territory to defend (co-existance is not an option apparently).
