Wishes that the 'Pioneer 1000' were replaced with 'Technics DZ1200's'

The reason I say this is because the 'Pioneers' don't really relate to what were used to, being the 'Technics 1210's' turntable.

I just can't get past the 'no-spinning' platter side of the 'Pioneers'.

I always liked the way the 1210's have to be curessed by the Dj, to get the beat in time, also just the fact of seeing a spinning platter.

I heard the 'Pioners' replicate the sound of records better, but if Technics achieved this, would you, prefer to see 'Technics DZ's ' in clubs.

mmmmm my mate just sold his technic cd deck to get one of them new cdj 1000's.

Pioneer are better i think because the new ones can read data dics and they dont take long to load as other cd decks

Im sure there more stuff 2

i heard the techs break quicker than the pioneers too. come to think of it... i dont think ive ever heard a positive thing about the tech cdjs other than they are pretty.

the technic cd decks dont spin there batty as fuck numark have cd decks that spin with 4.7 kg motor there bad mad

On a serious note tho - i'd throw em both in the bin and go by myself Serato. Nothing compares to a piece of vinyl.

I used to sell gear, so I'll give my input on product longevity. We set up a display with the numark CDX, Technics SL1200DZ, the denon CD decks, and the Pioneer cdj800.

here is the order in which they all went to shit:

after one month, the platter on the numark broke off and couldn't control the track any longer.

then the same thing happened to the technics about 2 weeks later

the denon began having read errors about 3 months on the floor.

the pioneer was still working 6 months later when we sold it to an employee for cost.

if I were in the market for CDJ's, I'd buy the pioneers. I have several friends that have buyers remorse after buying the Technics and one friend that cant stop bigging up his denon's.

Sounds about right... I can count on oone hand the amount of times I've seen other brands of cd deck in clubs that arn't pioneers..

Pick one up and it feels sturdy...!! The denons I had always felt like they were fragile...

denons pro is that it has a pitch BEND button,m which is akin to nudging the platter on a turntable

i have pioneers and i love them, once you get used to how it works its just so fast and easy to mix
im not very good with vinyl i must say, and i especially hate with vinyl how if u wanna start the mix again at the start of the track when its locked already
u gotta take needl;e off n put bakc on at start (how dare i slag vinyl djing!)
you can do the same on the fly with cdjs by pressing cue, makes for swift mixes

i know theres purists around but not everyone can afford to go cutting their dubs so for us here in aus the only way to hear fresh new shit is to play cdjs

imo the psinning platter would make no diff for vinylists coz the sensitivity is always fucked up on cdj emulations of vinyl

I have to say that I don't really like the Technics ones very much.

The platter is loose as fuck, and they are really twitchy. Its so easy to nudge the tune on a tiny amount and accidentally spin it forward a couple of bars. Can be quite frustrating (although get better with practice).

Why the couldn't just make something that felt and reacted just like a usual 1210, except with CDs, I don't know. Could split the market wide open if they managed to pull it off.

By contrast, the CDJs seem a lot more stable and are easier to beatmatch with. The ability to switch between vinyl and CD mode mid mix can be pretty useful (for speedy drop ins and the like).

However, they still seem like a bit of a chore to use for me. I still generally find CD mixing a bit like a technical exercise, and not actually fun. I suppose it is just cos I'm used to vinyl though.

If I ever venture into the world of digital tune spinning in a more serious manner, it will be Serato for me I think.
