you can always render it then put the sound in a wave editor such as cool edit or sound forge (peak for MAC users is good) and convert it into mono there

If you are using Renoise, do this...

Render the audio (you should always be doing this anyway, to be honest)

Look at the sample in the sample editor, look at the general properties of the sample and change it from Stereo to mono.

Job done.

Or render it in stereo, put the audio back into ableton and set the track to mono (can this be done in ableton?), or use a plug in to make it mono

I don't use albino, but surely that just makes the synth monophonic, not mono in terms of spread

or you could use the mono setting on the 'Utility' in ableton

Or jus make sure your bass is not panned in albino in the first place. Or use a stereo imager

I am sticking with ...Render, change sample to mono, whack it back in.

i dunnow if ur bass is a leady-bass ( u know what everybody calls bass but in fact serves more as a lead) or a real sub bass...

if its a simple deep sub.. u should prolly just bounce it stereo and turn the mixer track its assigned to to mono in ur daw (should be possible in all daws).. if not there are MonoEr plugins... or gain plugins with the mono option.. anything could do really

if its a more leady sound.. and u want to exploit the whole spectrum ur allowed to fill with... theres an old trick i use that was given to me by guys on hip hop forums (also saw it posted recently on house forums).. it helps.. u bus ur stereo bass sound to two diff channels.. on channel one.. eq the highs out so u isolate the subbass of ur leady bass.. (Everything under 300 hz AT LEAST)... then turn it to mono... sounds way more cohesive.. and is crucial if u produce music for the dancefloors...

then, in the the second channel, u can put the rest of the freq (roll off whatever amount u have going thru the first one so it evens out)... and u put it stereo and add effects..as a lot of yall do anyways..

hope it gives u further venues to explore

Can i ask why you are making your bass mono? Sub bass like below 80hz or so should be kept in mono for various reasons.

So...you guys are saying you have to make sub bass mono...I always just assumed that if I didn't pan it either way it was essentially the same thing  this is very upsetting news, so I have to actually bounce stems of sub bass in mono and put it in a sampler and then play it from now on? Cos i've just been making a synth with a sine wave and that would take aaaaages longer :(

dont worry. what you're doing is fine.

if you've panned something centrally on a mono channel strip, there will be no difference in its left and right when it gets to the main mix.

There are many stereo tools out there, i myself use one for my 'mastering'.
I can set a frequency in which everything below it is mono, and everything above is stereo.
