Detroit Techno

Post by slim » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:16 pm

Anybody into this? I like the sound of what i have heard, was wondering if anyone has any mixes of REALLY early stuff, like the belleville three or thereabouts.

Cheers

Haven't heard much, like some of what I've heard though.

It's weird coming to detroit techno through reading about it because it sounds nothing like I expected it to.

I'd also like a mix. And also a mix showcasing techno's finest moments over the yurrrs

sick! thanks for these. they're quite a different strain to the more canonical stuff though from what i understand, more the origins of 'ghettotech' or booty techno or whatever...

will try to link a good mix later

as long as you don't listen to him mix, juan is great. "infiniti" is a classic tune! also find his stuff with cybotron. early detroit electro (REAL electro, not this shit that is being called electro these days).

I love Detroit Techno been listening to loads lately.
Especially enjoying stuff by Drexciya http://www.discogs.com/artist/Drexciya
Infact check anything on the Underground Resistance label. Deep, dark and dirty Techno.

Try and find the documentary 'High Tech Dreams' as well. This tells you all you need to know about the whole Detroit thing.

Go to mixesdb they have hundreds of Detroit mixes to download.
Check this one from 1989

Don't think I've ever heard the tune Infiniti, I like the purer techno stuff he does under the infiniti name, but I probably prefer Cybotron/Model 500.

love it! I'm a huge techno fan especially minimal techno, got into dubstep through hearing some techno dj play a bit of dubstep in his set.
