Lost Lacquers EP
Destructive Recordings (UK), DST005
A welcome return from the Destructive boys, delivering a cracking EP of old dubs that still sound fresh today. Search & Destroy themselves step up with Positive, neck-snapping snares firing off their characteristically malevolent bass and urgent strings, Distance's Vicious Circle combines croaking subs with clanging live percussion, and Scandalous Unltd drop a relentless barrage of timbale drums and roaring mids intertwined with oldschool pads. Highlight though, is Toasty's Reflect, a mouthwatering mix of cold, crisp 2-step, tumbling filtered breaks, and shifting monolithic subbass. Well worth the wait.
5/5 (recommended purchase)
