you could always make one..

i built one of these and it turned out pretty good. Its relatively straight forward if you know about building circuits, the hard part was sorting all the bugs out lol
Alternatively one of the warmest ones i've heard that is actually available to buy is the SE10 which you can get from Jah Tubbys or Russ D, you might have to wait a short amount of time though if they havent got a batch made up

even easier! Look for Forrest Mims' handbooks, there's one focused on the mighty NE555 chip, which costs almost zero. With 2 resistors and 2 capacitors, a solder and some patience you'll get your VCO: Cheap!Instable!Crazy!
I've made one you can check how its sounding
http://it.qoob.tv/audio/clip_view.asp?id=11191
Output should be square waves, but as I've said the cheap nature of the circuit can't assure you about the actual output
The great thing is you can make two of these and make it modulate into the first one. What's the deal? With an easy mod you can transform the square into a sine too, so you just made a cheapinstablecrazy-multimode LFO!
*note* the circuit provided in the handbook has got a LOUD output and actually you should preamplify it (look for cheap LM386 preamps). If you don't do it, the oscillator will sound different on every device and probably you'll burn them as I almost did with my audio card, because of DC coming in the signal path and because of the impedance. When I tried to plug it in my audio card, the frequency and the sound changed if I put input selector on Mic/instrument/Line mode.

I've just found a cool amp design based on the LM386, good for any simple device you could have been built
http://www.ece.ucsb.edu/yuegroup/Teachi ... 1a-F07.pdf
it gives a good insight on "how it works", and has got active filters w00t!

i own both of the sirens
its horses for courses
oceanus siren has a huge range of sounds but requires a bit of playin
the phonic potion siren has a more limited set of soundz but they are
more available.
when oceanus and i discusssed the siren i asked for him 2use siren soundz and drum synth soundz as a startin point for the range of soundz 2 include, its a great box....
2 get the best out of a siren you need an echo / delay box and probabaly other fx units
cant say i have a favourite i also own a no1derland siren but out of the three oceanus digital dub siren is the most versatile good for performance and also in the studio, . phonic potion better for performance but far more limited.
oceanus has a load of samples of his siren over scientist and jammy dubs which begins to show the incredible versatility of the unit
