ok basically this is mainly for uk heads. i played an illegal rave, right at the end the police were being kinda sound then decided they wanted to confiscate all our equipment included bare subs, speakers, the van & MY RECORDS!

r there procedures i can follow to get them back or am i fucked?

allright m8 where was this rave defvon n cornwall police r allways nice 2 us aslong as we clean up (you need to register the rig in someones name then when u take it out fill in forms saying your hire it 4 the night that way if they take it its some 1 elces so they give it back to them !)

nah you can often get things back, might need to pay a fine though (if proceedings are taken against you). Chat to the cops about it.

Exactly the same thing happened to me a few years back, they usually do try and chuck a destruction order on anything taken (vindictive pricks), which they were trying to do to my tunes, the sound system and my mates truck that he was living in at the time. Court case went on for about a year and then was kicked out by the judge and everyone got their stuff back.

I think if they'd said earlier in the evening that it was fine to continue and then change their minds later, try and remember as much info as possible - if there was a high ranking copper there and he'd given it the ok, make sure you bring up his name. Try and find as many procedural inconsistencies as possible as this will help weaken the case against. If they'd said that you could go on till 6 and then turn the power off, and then impound stuff before then, you may well have a good case (even if technically you were breaking the law)

They can't do anything until charges have been brought and it's gone to trial though, find out which person of the crew is taking the heat and then chat to their lawyers, if you're on a low income, unemployed or a student you should be able to get your solicitors costs paid. Whatever you do, don't admit to shit if the police ask you, make them do the work.

Do expect it to be a very long time before you see the tunes back though, mine took just over a year. Best of luck mate.

The same happened to me on nye. We got everything back a couple of days later though. I'm pretty sure that even if you get the rig confiscated for a longer period (they had ours for 9 months a couple of years ago), you'll be able to get your records back. Tell them that as a dj the records are part of your livelihood, and that you only ended up at the party after a (legal) gig.

I did that, they still refused to hand them back. Might be worth it if you've got friends who run clubs to get a letter from them saying that you're doing a regular night, detail how much money you get paid by them and then add that into a potential compensation claim - if you're lucky they might shit it and hand them back to avoid further trouble.

nice one for the advice so far lads. i think mumsy is on the case with the old "hes got learning difficulties and he studies music so he was doing his homework". one of my teachers reckons i need to draw up a fake contract saying i was booked, apparently this means id have absolutely nothing to do with it.. i think the crew r on the case with a fake receipt saying they hired a generator, cos the filfth r crying about how electricity was tapped into. basically if they get busted for the receipt i should be in the clear cos i distanced myself from the organisers... all they want is one person to basically come forward and admit it was them who organised it, or so they say

Good to hear man, glad they didn't drag it our forever. Did they fuck up their procedures again, seems to be a pretty common occurrence with the party-pooping po po.

glad to hear it mate, i was gonna suggest something else (may be too late now) would be maybe to just plead ignorance? say you were told it was legal and they might let you off, anyway probably a bit late for that, hope it all goes fine getting your stuff back
