do you mean AU or VSTs? Try running AU Manager and see if they're disabled, you should solve this way

Are they real AUs?

Are they VSTs?

Are they VSTs that were converted to AUs with FxPansion's VST adapter application?

i take it you've done this: Sytem Preferences > Start Logic AU Manager and Scan all files and folders.

If that's doing nothing.

check the location of the AU's...

....if they are in VST's...move them to the 'Components' Folder, which can be found in the following location : Plug-ins > Components.

And then Rescan using the Logic AU Manager.

report back with what happens.

Now i am too. Though you're using logic 8 the setting up of AU's is pretty much the same from what i can gather as in logic 7.

a basic question but After you rescanned, did you open a logic arrange/mix window and check an empty soft instrument track insert for any plug-in's to see if any where available to use? (i know they would have shown in AU manager, but just wondering)
