DIGITAL
(Timeless | Function | L-PLates | UK) **1st NYC Appearance in 7 Years!!**

Image
Digital aka Steve Carr is the primary musical moniker this Ipswich based producer is known exclusively for his "old skool beatz" and "dubby B-lines" but a short conversation and a little investigative listening indicate this is one producer likely to pull a few seriously weighty tricks out of the bag.

1991 was the year Digital met Danny C. The two eventually joined forces to produce ‘Split Personality’ for Certificate 18 under the guise of Authorized Riddim in '94. Steve got to know Rupert Parkes, best known as Photek, around town in Ipswich who helped him get underway on his own studio. His first solo release was ‘Touch Me’ on Timeless Recordings in 1995 but it was the phenomenal ‘Spacefunk'’ also on Timeless that really showcased his talents alongside tracks such as ‘Down Under’ on Metalheadz that put his name firmly on the map. To follow was a host of releases for likes of Moving Shadow, Photek Productions and Creative Source.
In 1998 Digital teamed up with friend & Producer Duncan Busto a.k.a. Spirit and set up Phantom Audio. It arose from the desire to have their own base where there was no set musical agenda. Their debut release, ‘Phantom Force’ has already found a prominent place in the sets of DJs as Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Storm, Randall, Andy C, Hype, Ed Rush and Optical alongside a whole host of others. ‘Phantom Force’ has caused a huge demand and has become one of the most played tracks of 1999, 2000 and is still receiving play to this day in 2004.

Digital & the Phantom Audio sound has formally made its mark in the drum and bass circle with the appearance of 'Crash' on the Renegade Hardware LP 'Armageddon', and reworks of Guardians Of Dalliance ‘Transient’ also Loxy & Ink’s ‘Airlock’. Featured on the Movement Perpetual Motion LP ‘One Ton’, ‘Eaze Off’ & ‘Remote Control’ + ‘Phantom Force’(P.Audio), the mighty Metalheadz Platinum Breakz LP Vol’s 1, 2 & 3 & the Legendary limited Edition Enforcers Vol’s 2 & 3 on Reinforced.

Digital was working non-stop throughout 2000/01 in & out of the studio launching the Function Label that released the almighty ‘Waterhouse Dub’, as well as delivering the massive D’n’B smash ‘Deadline’ for Doc Scott’s imprint 31 Records, also releasing singles on Creative Source, Reinforced, Chronic, Renegade Hardware & Hype’s imprint Global Thang. In mid-April 2002 Digital set-up the Timeless Music Group with long-time friend and business partner Brillo. Handling all forms of label management for 11 independent D&B labels, then went onto release his debut LP ‘Dubzilla’ on imprint label Function 10 tracks of pure D’n’B, 8 cuts in his own true imitable radicalized dub-fashion + 2 cuts from the Phantom Audio label partner Spirit. In mid November 2003 Digital & Brillo joined forces with investors to launch the L.O.A.D. Media distribution co that has a current roster of 30 labels: Timeless / Function / Salmonella Dub (dub conspiracy)(nz) / Good Looking & Looking Good (uk)/ Freak (uk) / Science Fiction /Uprising (nz) / Phantom Audio / Intasound / Cyanide (nz) /C4C & C4C Ltd… too name but a few!

As well as the Production/A&R/Label Management Digital has been DJ’ing heavily for the past 7 years taking his sounds & styles all around the UK: Fabric (Prototype - London), The End (Renegade Hardware - London), Bar Rumba (Movement - London), World Dance (London), Birmingham, Brighton, Edinburgh & Glasgow (Scotland), Cardiff (Wales) & UK Festivals Homelands, Creamfields, Global Gathering, also Europe: Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Italy (resident events with the Red Bull Music Academy), Bulgaria, Hungary, Belgium & France.

Digital also featured at the following European festivals: Dance Valley, Amsterdam – 2001 & 2004, Impulz (Holland) 2002. Touching down in the USA, Puerto Rico the heading off to Japan also touring New Zealand in 2000 with DJ Storm (Metalheadz). Continuing to return and support Friends Salmonella Dub in 2003/04 with DJ support for their many tours throughout New Zealand also hooking up with them in the studio remixing tracks from their platinum selling LP projects ‘Outside the Dubplates (2002) & One Drop East (2003) then onto organizing to distribute and manage their product worldwide @ L.O.A.D. Media.

He has been DJing for more than 8 years and has graced the decks in Boston, New York City, and South London at nights including Elements, The Rinse, Runnin', Pressure Sessions, Acupuncture, Agency, Camouflage, Direct Drive, Homegrown, Konkrete Jungle, Push, Recess, and Total Niceness. JUNGLIST@LARGE
(Konkrete Jungle | Faktion)

Image
Junglist @ Large aka Mykey J has been involved with the Jungle Drum and Bass scene since 1996, of course most of that involved dancing and supporting local events. If there was a party that evening, one could expect Mykey to be there showing his support. Soon enough, the title of "The Junglist-at-Large" became synonymous with his reliablity of being a fixture of support at any Jungle Drum and Bass event. His title not only represents his love for the music, but also his partcular sound.

Straying from the disposable, "made-for-the moment" records, Mykey hand-picks only the tunes that remain true to what Jungle Drum and Bass is; Tunes that still hold the original vibes of Reggae, Dancehall, and Hard Step. He scoffs at those who say the "Amen" beat is "played out", for those people are not "Junglists" but merely front-runners. His specialty is spinning on three turntables, blending multiple tunes that create an energy level so intense that it should be illegal.

Mykey is responsible for bringing Konkrete Jungle THE premier sound system for a Jungle Drum and Bass weekly. Home-schooled in the art of audio engineering, Mykey transformed a neglected, rag-tag set of speakers and amps and created the hugest sound Konkrete Jungle has ever known.

ESHIN (No Jacket Required | Bassbot)
Image
DJ Eshin first began DJing in 2000 as he began taking hip-hop tunes from his bedroom to house parties in the NYC area. Although he first delved into electronic music in 1996, Eshin did not start experimenting with DnB in his DJ sets until 2002 and hasn’t looked back since then. Eshin made a big splash in 2004 by launching the eclectic Wednesday night weekly No Jacket Required in NYC with DJ/promoting partner Doctor Faustus. While the weekly finished its run a year after its launch, No Jacket Required still exists today as a NYC monthly event, bringing in prominent DnB talent from around the world, as well as NYC’s finest. Spanning from melodic and dubby sounds to tech-step and jump-up, Eshin showcases the ability to explore multiple styles in his sets. Eshin has played alongside international talent including Total Science, Marcus Intalex, Klute, Pendulum, Sub Focus, Juju, Logistics, Dara, and Mathematics, among many others. As a member of the electronic music collective Bassbot, Eshin continues to spread his diverse sound in the NYC DnB circuit and internationally.

DOCTOR FAUSTUS (No Jacket Required | Paradigm Lab | Bassbot)
Image
Doctor Faustus got his start in Boston, drawn to the sexy sounds of its dimly lit lounges and out of the way jazz clubs. In 1999, he became a chill-out staple at house parties all over the Boston metro area and landed recurring gigs in Cambridge's River Gods and the VIP room of Fanieul Hall's Exchange. Introduced to DnB in 2001 at 4Front Records' weekly The Rinse, he updated his collection and moved out of the lounge and into the main room. In 2002 he moved to NYC with immediate success: a Saturday chill-out residency at The Cellar Bar under The Bryant Park Hotel for UK house label Journeys by DJ, a Tuesday DnB weekly at The BQE Lounge in Williamsburg, regular DnB spots at then-Carroll Gardens haunt Halcyon, and co-ownership of Greenwich, CT's ParadigmLab Recordings label. In 2004 he created the year-long Wednesday DnB weekly No Jacket Required with fellow DJ Eshin, playing alongside Total Science, Dara, DB, Reid Speed, Mathematics, and others. Having gained an appreciation for the deeper meanings in the music in his chill-out days, the good doctor melds solid beats and lovin' melodies to ensure every new track is a well-timed progression in an intricate and very danceable story.
