I want to know

- What are/when are good nights in the UK that I can go to?

- What are good mixes to download?

- What are good CD compilations to buy? (Preferably stuff that educates about the history of either genre)

- What are good tunes (old/current) to check out?

Any youtube links or even links to articles/blogs etc. would be much appreciated. I've been listening to Maurizio- M4 just now and it's so good I reckon there must be stuff out there thats as good or better.

Boomkat is the best place to check for it.

I'm seeing Andy Stott, Surgeon and Clark in Mcr on saturday, first proper techno night so will be a new experience.

mix wise check out Lenodd - Journey to the Red Planet which is made up of all Red Planet records stuff. Red Planet is sort of related to Underground Resistance. Speaking of which if you can find it check out the first Interstellar Fugitives compilation on UR.

Pure Filth in nottingham. Not sure when they are or how often they are Looks like the next one is on 1st March and best avoided, loopy banger stuff.

Lost in London - normally only on bank holiday weekends.

Also there are two films that are well worth a watch (I am currently being educated by my house mate on Techno, he wears glasses and likes Gabber so is well qualified to do this);

'High Tech Soul' is a documentary about Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Carl Craig etc and the whole Detroit movement that started it all

'Modulations' is a more general look at the history of electronic music but also features a lot of info on Techno

Ideal for that skin up, sit down vibe on a Sunday night

check http://www.residentadvisor.net/ for a fairly good idea about whats going in modern house + techno. Its reviews,news, features etc are usually pretty good.

We have booked DJ Pete aka Substance / Scion Versions to play in April at Corsica Studios (alongside Neil Landstrumm, Bass Clef and a load of others...)

Caught him playing a live set in some little strip bar down Hackney Road last year. Was really very good...

Spot on man, thats my prioritisation as well, Id have to add Sleeparchive as well though...totally dig that shit!

Check all the first and second wave Detroit shit. So important that you do. Only then should you proceed.

Still the Cybotron tunes like Techno City put a smile on my face that lasts for days.

Also, anything by Drexciya. Whether they would come under either a techno or house bracket is irrelevant. They're techno to me. And they are (or were) up there with the Belleville 3, UR, Carl Craig etc... Sometimes when I'm making tunes and struggling, I listen to a Drexicya record and it reminds me to stop fucking about and do something different. Be brave.
