I'm stateside, it took some trendy stuff at first to lead me into the darkness

thats what got the ball rolling for me.
Then wasted many of my years producing DnB, and now have recently gotten into dubstep.

think it would have been some gatecrasher trance compilations
or possibly rhythm and stealth by leftfield actually

same here. weird thinking back about how one CD led to another, which led to another and eventually ended up where you are today

only it weren't a CD, it was a cassette... and then my mum tried to make me take it back cos it had swearing on it... i was only 10 i think...

i kept the prodigy tape, but the coolio album... that went straight back to the shop!!!

I don't think ive ever bought an Electronic CD, unless some Hip Hop could be included.

As for albums, i coldnt remember wasn't into too much before Dubstep so maybe it was Box Of Dub or Pinch

leftfield-leftfield from safeways bought on mums ABC points many many years ago....
then maybe prodigy - experience , sent me a bit weird aged 13-14 haha

DanceNet compilation. Some upfront house from around 94-95. It was what my older sister was raving to at the time and I thought it was pretty cool. I was 10 at the time.

think that was one of my first actual CDs... not including cassettes...

actually the very first CD i bought (though it ain't electronic) was "Smash" by The Offspring... that was when they were still a good band...

i remeber being absolutely amazed at the way you could skip tracks with just the touch of a button

i wish i had a list of every music purchase i had ever made, when and where... could make some interesting reading (for me, anyone else would find it boring!)

i recently realised that i have too much music to reasonably keep in a single home...

Jilted Generation for me also. Tis a good album, easily the best the Prodigy have done.

FUCK YEAH! I almost said offspring when I first started this thread haha.
Even though its no where NEAR electronic.. i guess it was that grungy/metal huge almost "big beat" like sound that still influenced me. Def to DNB...

you must be around my age, I'm 25. I keep forgetting that there are people on this forum that were buying "tapes". christ we are getting old


Hip hop def helped but I was more into DJ Shadow, DJ Krush if anything.. love thos guys.

Not sure what the CD was, I can't remember, but I distinctly remember the one of the first electro things I ever heard that left an lasting impression was Activ8 by Altern8. It was on a tape my mate recorded and it only had about a minute of the track, but i was hooked.
That drop is still so SICK...

Hahaha, yeah didn't quite understand the culture behind the music at the time, but I just though that it sounded great and made me want to jump around a lot, which as a 10 year old was what you do best.
Going to have to youtube it...

Negative. Overplayed round these parts. Same with the Fat Of The Land. Cant listen to those albums anymore as it just sounds like background to me. This goes for a lot of the music I was really into in my youth.
