Deep Medi in the Dam...aftermath

Post by dr ddd » Sun Feb 24, 2008 10:10 pm

:o :h: :o :h: :o pretty much sums up my night!!!

Wow!
What a serious night!!! I've only just got back to Brighton, via the Dub conference soundclash, to absorb the aftermath of dddeep medddi in the dddam!

Kromestar and Goth Trad really stole the show, but the mixing throughout the night was pure liquid perfection - i could have cried. Such an experience to hear quality like this, when it's at its best and on a decent rig. Such a friendly crowd and sweet vibes, the effort that gets pulled out for these shows is phenomenal.

It was the first time I've seen Goth Trad after much hankering and boyo - he lived up to every expectation and then some! Whoever said dubstep was boring, clearly needs to have a listen to this guy live - he's gonna rinse it at DMZ. I am now even more excited!

Massive shouts to my streamzim sugar daddies ;), Misery and KidC, for keeping a lady in alcohol and food - you are superstars, I owe you; to Will Blaze (true Amsterdam soldier repping - our Dam guide) and Granddd and to everyone I met. Sorry for only being able to hold a conversation of about two sentences at any one time before running off - i was a bit excited...!

Thank you Misery for convincing me this had to be done :D

I managed to grab a minute or so of (a momentarily calm) Goth Trad and some crowd shots, which is linked below for those that couldn't make it - excuse the outstandingly high quality of the camera work, i was also trying to dance, drink and talk at the same time...

bigup my new nokia for this!

the boys were their normal degenerate selves...
altho we nearly didnt make it - we were having a pint and our supposedly delayed flight got reinstated at the right time - 7 mins to get to the gate.. whoops!!

Here's a tip for the future - dont drink a pint quickly and then run as fast as you can halfway across Gatwick North terminal - it is not a fun experience!

Innit, some stunning shots there, especially the ones of the crowd and a couple of goth trad ones really stand out!

oh and can someone PLEASE tell me what the last track that Kromestar dropped was... i'm pretty sure it was new and sounded like an attack of the space invaders - that was a serious tune!

i will be eternally grateful :)

i always have the unfortunate habit of pulling a stoopid face in front of a camera, it's like a nervous tic or something so i dread seeing pics go up..thankfully so far i seem to have managed to blend in with the crowds like a true ninja -t-

Pfeeeew, crazy party at the Melkweg again.

Openers T-mus and Myrkur did a good thing. Myrkur got to play his own dubplate and T-mus played some other tunes by young Dutch producers. Too bad the volume was low.

Then the Medi night kicked off with Kromestar. First time Kromestar for me. Had the chance like 3 times before but missed those. ATTENTION! Spelled on the walls facing the stage. The crowd got it and it got pulled.

After that it was up to Goth-Trad. I just loved the roughness and all the energy in his set. For me he was the man of the night. Halfway during his set I spoke to T-mus and said to him: Can you imagine this next week b2b Distance in London??? Both of us had a smile from ear to ear. Can't wait!!! Too bad he was up so early.

Then came Mala. Used to his dubby selection but this one suprised me a bit. It was a bit harder then what Isaw before. Never the less, I enjoyed myself bigtime during his set.

After that the alcohol started to work. In combination with getting up early that day my energylevel went down. Can't remember much of Silkie & Quest and Hijak. Too bad.

Big up to U dub for organising this once again. Big up to all my fellow Dutchsteppers. And ofcourse big up to all the dj's and Pokes, Grand (that pic we're on is nice) and the UK-gang.

Next week DMZ!!
