is logic pro good enough?
thinking of spending a bit of money on some new plug-ins but just want to know if its really worth it.
i use logic pro, along with some vsts like massive, trilogy etc but i havent got any plug ins.
do i really need to go and spend money on plug ins like the uad ones or are the logic plugs perfectly capable of producing a nice, finished, professional mix(not mastering)?
and how much better are plugins like uad and waves compared to logics ones?

I use the Logic ones.
I think unless you're putting shit out then there's no point.
Future Music did a great feature in which they took a tune and mastered it with the Logic Plugs, a mid-range set of plugs and then the Waves Plugs. They said the difference was definitely noticeable. Maybe it was Computer Music, I don't remember.

Logic (prior to Pro) was good enough for the Scissor sister's album. Love them or hate them, they've sold more records than everybody on here collectively...
Out of all the DAWs, easily good enough. Easily. The Logic 8 sound engine is even better. I used to hate the compression, but now I find myself using it , especially with all the different modes it has. It can sound great.
But, forget the bullshit tools and just make the music good.

the logic 8 mastering templates are really good
just got logic, and have done some tests with my old tracks from cubase ( using things like Ozone to master ) - and the logic versions sound really really nice, little more proffessional.
i wouldn't bother shelling out on UAD stuff unless you really know how to use them properly, and your tracks are 100% beforehand.
i've had the chance to use some uad plug ins and they are great, but they definitly don't make weak tracks sound strong, trust me!
