this is really interesting. for me, it puts into perspective how much we have advanced within the past 100 years. also says something about the technology that was arising in the 1900's. even more interesting because some of the predictions came true, and some of them are fully laughable.

There will be no C, X or Q...
Some are scarily close though.

we live in exponential times
these predictions are the equivalent of predicting technology 5 years from now

I was looking forward to flying cars and a leisure society. Considering how much work is automated, I do find it a bit disappointing that we now seem to work longer hours than we did in medieval times.

Hmm....

i was just thinking about this while watching 2001 yesterday,
even with interplanetary travel and video conferencing, artificial gravity, and artificial intelligence, it still took an entire room to house HAL.

Nothing about freeing the slaves or space though.
Interesting article, thanks for that.
Good to know that people where thinking about GM crops and a completely manufactured, fake city even 100 years ago.

Love the certainty of that statement.

Fuck, just woke up etc etc
Racism then, or anything more social. Rather than predictions on the size of strawberries.

yes but unfortunately slavery still happens all over the world in more ways then one.
humans have focused a lot on technological advancements but not so much on spiritual ones.
