overlooked this before so ignore that part of the question in my pm
dogsonacid beat you to it, but this looks pretty interesting, as my main focus would be soho's record shops (and a few museums)

must be the best hostel location in london. i pass it on the way to work everyday... if u stay there come outside for a smoke at 8:20 and wave at me lol
u should spend half a day (like the one u arrive or the one u leave) just doin record shops and cool clothes shops which are aplenty within a 15 minute walking radius of that hostel.
dunno about exhibitions. there's always plenty on, not always of great interest.

i would but i've quit smoking yesterday

the original plan was to do a lot of record shops anyhow, so the location is perfect to get to soho by foot.
i'm not really updated on what's happening in art now, guess i'll have to google around some stuff, although tate modern is probably an option, it's the only museum i ever went in london i never got to finnish in the small amount of time spending there.
anyway if someone's got some suggestions feel free to shoot,
i'd like to add that i'm not just looking for art or dubstep, if anyone got some hints on record shops except for the ones in soho or near camden town let me klnow, or shops selling import dvd, mexican wrestling stuff, comic books, ...

ask for "cabin" rooms at the smaller hotels. you can get incredible stuff, especially outside of w1.
a cabin room is basically what it sounds like. you open the door and it hits the edge of the bed.

also, yotel at gatwick or heathrow.
http://www.yotel.com/findhotel.aspx
the rooms are purple, and it's a little weird but not a bad deal for £25 for 4 hours or £55 for 24hours. all cubicle/cabin style. so small that i had to jump over my bag to go piss.

				COMIC BOOKS YOU SAY?
forbidden planet is the biggun. it's on shaftsbury avenue. there's a couple on... i guess it's called museum street. it's the street the british museum is on. so get to the british museum and look for a hanging shop sign with the batman symbol on it.
