I caught Diplo and Flying Lotus last night in Austin@SXSW and both dropped dubstep. Shit was bonkers when Flying Lo dropped a Reso and Roguestar tune.

what i don't understand is where this idea of it being cool/hip/whatever you wanna say has come from, as far as i can see the majority of people at nights are far from cool and seem to spend a lot of their time being forum neeks
EDIT - myself included of course

lets try our best to stop this scene being cool;
producers need to drop the enigmatic, underground persona and start dressing like physics students.
ravers need to start dancing like special needs tai chi classes.
there should be at least one reference to keith chegwin in every forum post.
press agents should start sending tunes for reviews in country living magazine.
any more suggestions?

compulsory tweed patches on everyone's jackets, huge grandpa style glasses a must, snorting whilst laughing essential, membership of world of warcraft needed or face a ban on listening to the stepprimate wrote:any more suggestions?

Dubstep is only cool if you are a muso
and musos, we all are.
so its gravy.
I find it funny when people say "OH ITS THE NEXT PASSING TREND" when its been around for time now, and has many many chances to be the new URBANLOL style, and just hasnt coz people are too busy enjoying the music!

Flying Lotus has been incorporating Dubstep into his sets and compositions for a while now.
Fully agreed and sigged.primate wrote: there should be at least one reference to keith chegwin in every forum post.

that seem to be the next big thing turning out on POPSTEP, even the drum and bass big names are into it, my respect and love goes back then in time when it was not so big, even for me , beeing more in dub and tek dub, dub techno, all seems really over populized.
yes i have some dubstep tunes in my bag to play

we all like dubstep for some reason or another, and found it at some point in time. to be honest I jumped on the flying lotus bus recently and I'd expect a few other dubsteppers did the same.. what's the difference?
not to mention that I'd guess diplo and flying lotus have been playing dubstep for a while now..
edit: imo it's pretty exciting to see other folk integrate dubstep into their sound - it opens up loads of new possibilities. btw that show sounds awesome sines!

Flying Lotus dropped dubstep AND jungle when he played here in nyc . imo its all coming together like it naturally should, since we're all just 20-30 something-(sub)urban-youths who like phat beats, its natural that everyone is gonna get into everything
ALSO i think its semi-gay that people talk about it in terms of "Jumping on a bandwagon" . THEY are the ones making it into a bandwagon thing by repeating that propaganda. why not just say "(Artist) likes dubstep, and has been incorporating it into their sets" ??
