“TIPSY: BASS FOR YOUR WAIST” AT EMPIRE LIQUORS THURSDAY, MARCH 27,
2008 FEATURING DJ C, WHOA-B, AND JEEKOOS PLAYING DUBSTEP, BASSLINE,
GRIME, UK GARAGE, GLOBAL GHETTO-TECH, BLOG TRAX, AND GENRE BLENDS.

Chicago, IL – March 13, 2008

Three of Chicago’s most notorious bass maestros come together to push
brand new frequencies for the dance-floor at one of Chicago’s hottest
clubs.

DJ C:

Beat scholar, party scientist, ragga maniac, and remixer of singers
from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs, DJ C continues to spread his fiercely
eclectic gospel of crunkment, mashstep, ragga-bounce, and grime-hall
across the land. He's been pumping out a series of records on U.S.,
U.K., and Japanese labels including a remix of M.I.A.'s U.R.A.Q.T.
for her Galang 05 single on XL Recordings, as well as singles for
Ninja Tune, Soul Jazz, Shockout/Tigerbeat6, Death$ucker, and his own
Mashit imprint; sharing the groves in those slabs of vinyl with the
likes of Sinden, Drop The Lime, Ghislain Poirier, The Bug, Kid606,
Warrior Queen, Serj Tankian and many more. Back in Oct. '04 legendary
BBC Radio 1 host John Peel chose Mashit as a "label of the month" and
featured a DJ C mix of Mashit tracks. Since then his tunes have
continued to evolve into ever-more devastating dance-floor monsters.
When he's not busy recording, he DJs and performs live for crowds the
world over, and blogs at http://Mashit.com .

JEEKOOS:

DJ, producer, visual artist and all around swell guy, Jeekoos has
been manning the decks of the Thursday night electronic music show on
Chicago’s WNUR (89.3) radio for the past few years. Each week he and
the rest of the Part Time Sucker crew fills the airwaves with a wide
variety of bass-and-beat-driven music, which often includes heavy
doses of dubstep. In fact, on Saturday nights he has a show on the
internet radio site dubstep.fm, and he runs the website and forum
midwestdubstep.com. He’s also known for rocking parties like Bass
Goes Boom at Lava, the Resonate warehouse parties and many more.

WHOA-B:

Whoa-B’s dedication to electronic music began on the dance floor of
‘90s rave culture. The eclectic combination of house, jungle, hip-
hop, reggae, and r&b of the UK garage sound drew him in as a DJ. As
that sound evolved into its MC-driven form known as grime he became
even more serious about his act and devoted himself to representing
UK garage, grime, and dubstep in Chicago and the US. His sets often
mix those genres together with hip-hop, dancehall and other sounds,
but one thing’s for sure; it’s all about the bass.
