Was wondering if there's any fans of this stuff up on here, been listening back to a few of these albums and forgotten how good they were. Don't think angry (and often blackly comic) nihilism has ever been committed to vinyl with such intensity.

Prayer to God by Shellac has the darkest lyrics I've ever heard. Deep stuff. Steve Albini was an all round G. Sick 'sound engineer' as well.

I've had Excellent Italian Greyhound on repeat for weeks now.

About two weeks ago I got together with some friends to take turns playing music. Nothing big, just hanging out drinking beers and listening to tunes. Of course I got drunk, told everyone in the basement that if they didn't have this next record in their collection they could leave now. Then proceeded to turn up the volume to 11 and put on Atomizer.

Two Nuns and a Pack Mule is still one of my favorite albums. The start stop rhythms are just insane.

So yeah, you could say I likes me some Steve Albini.

brilliant stuff

you are jealous that the other day I got 3 rare BB 12"s and the first shellac 7" and an amazing(and quiet) bootleg of their classic peel sessions for like 3 quid each

Only heard this the other day, dark as fuck but gotta respect the emotional honesty.

Glad to see so many people supporting (and Joe C, the 2nd Shellac 7" is the one  )

Saw Shellac play when I was 19, went up and shook the mans hand, and instantly turned into a stuttering fanboy. He was a real Gent tho' Bless....

1000 Hurts is one of the best sounding records ever. I heard Albini recorded the new Om which should make it crushing.

I love all of Albini's projects, but Rapeman is one of my desert island discs. The whole band is just so tight on there , and Rey Washam is just crazy on those drums. It's a shame Ray's not more active now (I heard his experience with Ministry kind of soured him on the rock scene).
