a review from a friend that's heard the whole album:

"…it's bad to the point of being unlistenable, which is a shame after a ten-year-plus hiatus. I read an interview with them in one of the Sundays last week, and Geoff Barrow was complaining about their records being embraced by what he called "the fondue and dinner party crowd". Funnily enough, this new joint sounds like a band that's lost its nerve and is scared of making a record that people might actually like."

I like this album a lot. It's daring. The whole thing smells way more experimental than their other formulaic stuff. There are some killer tracks on there.

Fuck what other people think.

i like it quite a bit too.

even with the relatively shitty transcode... i expect a pretty big sound.

very nice mood to it and a lot more experimental than their previous stuff.

to call it it experimental by modern standards`?

hell no, but seems to draw influence from a pretty lavish spectrum. some things even remind me of good old kraut rock, while some have a feel of rammelzee gone instrumental with morricones unheard, but dope, cousin.

hard to explain, but will be a huge dissapointment to many, i suspect.

Yeah -I picked up some post punk, proto industrial influences. It's experimental considering what we expect from them.

:)

The disappointment is the usual thing. People simply want more of the same shit. I felt this is great for a third album.

Got this album a few days ago and I really like it, but "Dummy" will be unmatched, I guess.
