How many americans, canadians, etc...

Post by misk » Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:18 am

are feeling the deeper dubstep? It has been my experience that a lot of people in so cal are really feeling the darker stuff here. Like, to the point where it would be a floor-clearingly bad idea to drop a shackleton track. I on the other hand, LOVE this stuff. the deeper, the darker, the better. I get this feeling that us americans dont know how to be "dark" without being "hard as nails". Im not talking slow, im not talking boring, im talking clouds, im talking scuba, im talking, the other 75% of dubstep that isnt what i'd call slowed down drum n bass.

anyone else here besides me?

Defo feelin' the deeper stuff as well.

Lots of deep gems coming out and
about to come out.

We've been able to mix it up quite nicely @ Gritsy,
and they seem to dig it all. front. center.

Harsh man, I've seen that system as well, doesn't look like people are gonna miss the bass like some of the clubs I've played Skull Disco 001 at - was stared at like a dog being showed a card trick

I think there's a similar split here between the bashy stuff and the deepage, each to their own, I play bangers where necessary but love the deep stuff!

Agreed.

There's nothing like watching a solid crowd pop
off to some deep business.

Esp on a good rig.

I like the cream of all the crops. From deep to wub-wub. TBH I wouldn't spin out anything that is really deep unless it's opening slot or something. No one ever seems to appreciate it at the club. It's not just deep dubstep, it's any sort of deep music. I will play it on the radio or in a mix though. Everything has it's place.

i think a lot of it lies in timing. i don't play shackleton at peak hour. i just don't. but when the hour is getting late, people are soused and it's time to bring it down, THAT is when you drop "blood on my hands".

i wouldn't play deep dubby shit at 1am, just like i wouldn't drop crazy mad nasty shit at 5 am, dig? :)

NYC is feeling alot of breadth and depth; space for it all. I distinctly recall the bomb squad droppping "naked" at 1am @ dubwar... serious business.

of course the general formula of banger-banger-deep banger-deep banger-deep-deep-banger-deep-banger- deep-banger-banger doesn't hurt.

out to my boat noodles-into-spongebob crew. your time. (my time? our time? shit i thought i had it down with "safe".)
