this is the worrrst thing about massive....the only thing i can fault it with really. I dont think you can automate the LFO once its been synced... pisses me off big time.

I just have to bounce it down to audio at different speeds. :|

this is a much discussed problem...

The good news, is that if you are creative, you dont need that automation, you can automate the lfo/performer xfade along with amp knobs and the filter xfade... Its a workaround, but you can do it.

I put multiple performers on one cutoff, and then assign the amp knobs to reversed polarity on a macro knob. That way, when I send a 0 or 127 message, it will basically switch from one performers rhythm, to the next...

Then play6 with the xfades, and you can easily have 8 rhythmic variations to swap between...

i can follow just up until the part where you begin to assign amp nobs to reversed polarity to macros. anyone care to elaborate?

well, you know how the macros are down in the bottom right corner? You can assign one macro to the amp knobs of two LFO's or performers...

when you go to assign how much control (dragging on the macro assignment number to draw that yellow line thingy), just do the one all the way right, the other all the way left... so when you turn that macro knob, one amp turns up, while the other turns down...

does that make sense? Its hard to describe in text... maybe I can make a clip out of it...

im with you there, very nice way of doing it, but then you can only alternate between 2 different speeds no?

well, you can put multiple performers/lfo's on a cutoff, so you can use two performers on one cutoff, to get 4 different variations... know what I mean?

You can automate the LFO rate in FL7......

I did find one way around it, but it only gives you the option to switch between two synced rates.

Set the minimum value of a mod wheel from the bottom right to the normal lfo speed (non synced), make sure you set it to restart on each note and it will sound like it is perfectly synced all the time. Then set the maximum value of the mod wheel on the lfo rate to the second lfo speed you want. then its just a case of automating between two points to get two lfo speeds without having to bounce down.

:)

The problem is ableton only lets you automate the first 128 midi parameters in a vst... so if lfo rate is like #132 your screwed. Like others said theres work arounds, but its annoying as hell.

Post support on the ableton forums! http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74495

Who ever made a VST that uses MIDI control channels that go outside of the maximum range is an idiot... If that is actually the case, then there's probably no way around it... there are only 128 MIDI cc and that's the way it's been since the early 80's. It's not a bug like they describe on the Ableton forum, its to do with the coding of MIDI. There are actually 256 bytes in MIDI data, the other ones are used for basics like, note on, note off... those can't be changed.

Well i dont get it....

When LFO "sync" is disabled, can i automate then this "rate" button"?

I'm using Cubase 4 but cant find "rate" from automation parameters list!

But I did this - linked this "rate" button to my midi keyboard knob, switched Cubase to record mode and then just messed with my midi keyboard. It was all recorded exactly as I played. I thought that i was clever and hoped that this massive's "rate" automation track now will appear to the usual place, below the massive track, like usually automation tracks are in cubase. But no, i founded this recorded automation here, in piano roll as a "pan" controller - http://www.martellorotativo.com/massiveshot.JPG

:o

Any suggestions? So, can i automate the same parameter using usual automation track instead of piano roll?

Thanks

so hold on, You are automating the Synced LFO using the Pan CC# 10?

Is it working? Is it synced? or are you automating the unsynced Rate knob?

I'd like to know, so I can refer the info back to NI, if this is something the rest of us missed.
