This is New to ME throw me in the right direction.

Post by lavert » Sat May 27, 2006 4:43 pm

Over this past year I've been getting into DnB and breakbeat and recently been listening to dubstep. I think this music is amazing, so intelligent, and was wondering if you people could list some artists and tunes to pick out since I don't know much about this genre. The only artist I've heard is Vex'd can't remember which album but its quality!

Thnx.

i think toasty - splash is a tune you should try to find first...its on a few sets, search the board and it should come up..

I think Barefiles is a good suggestion of where to start, you can familiarise yourself with a few different styles from there and then pick what you are feeling...Otherwise Dubstep Allstars III cd mixed by Kode9 is a fantastic place to start.

The dubstep warz breezeblock set has been my point of introduction for many friends....kinda nice how it explains the sound a bit.

Glad someone mentioned them!! Check D1, Benga as well

Also check for SLT MOB (on Subfm.com every Wednesday)
And also all the people grinding out on the under-underground: H.e.n.c.h Crew, 4N Format.

Generally speaking check Newham Generals on a Sunday 7-9 Rinse FM just in case u get too into "Dubstep" and start thinkin it's somethin separate from everything else goin on pon stations like Rinse.

Barefiles.com
Subfm.com
rinsefm.com

Before all this get into The Dubstep Warz Breezeblock special as an introduction, available to download on barefiles i think.

Enjoy yourself mate!
