Radiohead Remix Contest....

Post by danolboy » Thu Apr 03, 2008 1:43 pm

"To celebrate this week's single release (we still have those in England) Radiohead have broken up the song 'Nude' into pieces for you to remix.

For those of you who enjoy this sort of thing, you can buy the separate components or 'stems' (bass, voice, guitar, strings/FX and drums) and remix your own version of the song. You can do this by adding your own beats and instrumentation or just remixing the original parts. More information here: http://www.radioheadremix.com/information/

You can buy the stems here: http://www.radioheadremix.com/buy/

You can upload your finished mixes here http://www.radioheadremix.com and be judged and even voted on by 'the public'.
You can also create a widget allowing votes from your own website, Facebook or MySpace page to be sent through too.

Hope you enjoy it"

Anyone going to be getting on this? Releasing stems is the way forward!

It is a bit cheeky to essentially charge people for entering a remix contest, however if they do sell then it might pave the way for more artists to start eventually releasing mutitracks of their music.

So, Radiohead let people pick their own price when buying the album, but for the parts for one song, you have to fork out? :|

On behalf of myself I would kindly like to tell radio head to fuck off. Their music is shite and depressing anyway.

How can they let people pay whatever they want for their album but charge their fellow musicians to download their samples! Radio can go rot.

This'd be fun, but yeah.. wouldn't pay for the parts unless it was a favourite tune of mine

if they arent yet they will be soon. its more fun to remix by taking your own bits and pieces anyway. helps the process when youve got separated stems.

Well I just love Radiohead, but I must admit I'm kinda dissapointed they let themself into this kind of commercial nonsense. Downloaded it for free, and working on a remix right know though, great fun :)

Charging for multi-tracks is more than a little greedy, and Radiohead owns the rights to any work you submit :o
Check out http://remix.nin.com Lots of free multi tracks for nin and some Saul Williams as well, plus a cool site to upload your remix or listen to others. I think it's all released under a creative commons license too.
Yet another reason why nine inch nails kick Radiohead's arse in the direct-to-consumer, unconventional release strategy, interaction with the fanbase thing that's going on right now.

Thing for me is that Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead lead guitarist and long-fringed geek-meister), is an absolute fucking electronic genius god.

I purchased the stems to do the remix, purely on the basis that he's been one of my bigger influences and the chance to do a remix of a Radiohead track is to good to turn down.

Y'all tight muthaf****s!

Only joking!
Bored of the same old fucking shit.

Bollocks to it...

I'd like to remix it with a Coldplay vocal over the top of it, and the sound of a cash register repeatedly ringing

simple

Post by shortstuff » Thu May 01, 2008 4:56 pm

Simple...

pay
get the samples
pitch them all down a couple of semi tones
use them to write epic, dubstep ballads with an oxfordian twist
make millions of quids
and if Radiohead ask, you know nothing about it

NOW who's laughing?
