Software suggestions for mac production noob?

Hey, I've been tinkering a little on mac apps Soundtrack and Garage Band, which are fun, but both are a bit limiting - particularly for programmiing beats.

I was wondering if someone can suggest a good program for me to get into more beats on the mac. I really liked the simplicity of Fruity Loops, but of course, this program is not for mac.

Anything similar?

thanks guys!

Reason or Ableton may be around the same level of form/function/learning curve as fruity.

I recommend Logic for the quality of sounds and plug-ins, quite easy to get going for the basic stuff, but quite a lot to learn for the more advanced. Best to figure what sort of thing you want to do, Reason and Ableton may be better depending on what you want to do, but the sound quality of Logic, and the fact that it's designed to integrate with the Mac may well swing it.

If your a mac user its all about Logic, but if you’re new to it expect a big learning curve... I'd probably recommend reason 3 / ableton to start with..
