Friday 11th April, 8pm-3am, 2 Upstairs Rooms at The Dogstar, 389 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, London.

Dubstep, Dub sonics, electro and electronica from:

Disrupt
Clause Four
Ardisson
Memory9
International Observer
Fold & guests.

Visuals by Whrs Nick and New Jack City. £5 all night

The Dogstar in Brixton will soon resound to the sounds of Bass Weight with a stellar line-up of quality electronics with bass being the glue that holds it together. Artists from Germany, New Zealand, Italy and London.

The first guest comes from Germany.
Disrupt (Jahtari / Werk Discs)
‘The best appropriation of Jamaican dub and 8-bit dancehall you're likely hear this year - with a slow paced skank and a filthy, uber-bassy production style that has more in common with King Tubby, Black Art and, for that matter, black magic than with any half-arsed wobble presets and lazy dubplates you just might have picked up these last twelve months.’ (Boomkat)
He’ll be taking over room 2 for the whole night with his own brand of dubbed out electronica.

Next up representing London is DC Recordings newest signing Clause Four.
After sending DC Recordings a few cd’s a few years back he’s gone onto release P-Funk inspired Casio-fizzled hip hop beats with a walloping swing and rhythm. Being on J Saul Kane’s (aka Depth Charge) label he’s found himself a true home, especially as he used to buy his records when he was 14 years old.

Also representing London is Charles Matthews aka Ardisson.
When he moved to London he was taken by the sound of clattering snares and sub bass, cutting his teeth with a late night DJ slot at pirate-turned-internet radio InterFACE.
8 years on Charles has teamed up with Seed Records to release a pair of acclaimed leftfield eps while honing a more dancefloor friendly angle with breakbeat producer Vlad Sokolov. Recent releases include bass heavy remixes of ScanOne on Combat Recordings, Smithmonger on Vertical Sound and DJ Nitro on Sokolov. Forthcoming are a full length album on Seed and a series of singles on Bedouin Ascent's No-Immortal imprint.

Also on the electronic tip is Memory9 (aka Gadi Sassoon), Italy’s genre-defying, bass heavy, London-dwelling export. A sound artist strongly focused on live performance, Memory9 has appeared around the world under different aliases including Mnemosyne, Arc-Tek, and the duo Aliens At Home. His work has taken such diverse shapes as to have been showcased in art galleries, blasted out of squat-rigs or shaking floors in world-class clubs: at Bass Weight, Memory9 will present his new “Monome” live set, described by the artist as being “a bit hacking, a bit vandalism […] like you were coming to see someone reaching into your mp3 player's memory and banging on the data with drumsticks, or perhaps hammers.”

Finishing up the bill is New Zealand based ex-pat keyboardist, songwriter and producer Tom Bailey.
Following the extraordinary success of his post-punk synth-pop group The Thompson twins, production and writing work for the likes of Deborah Harry, and the ambient techno of his Babble project, Tom Bailey was lured to the exotic climes of Aotearoa/New Zealand. This is where he crafted the sound of his new guise International Observer. After recent appearances in the UK at Big Chill, Fabric, we welcome him to South London.

Flyer artwork by legendary KLF member now turned artist Jimmy Cauty.

Hold on tightly. Feel the force, of Bass Weight.
