Kung-Fu flick, comic book & Chess loving Wu-Tang honcho, the RZA (aka Robert Diggs aka Bobby Digital), has announced the launch of an on-line Chess website geared towards fans of the game in the hip-hop community world-wide. Adding yet another limb to the Wu- Empire, WuChess.com will allow hip-hop loving Chess heads any where in the globe to link-up and challenge each other, take part in tournaments and even play RZA & other Wu-Tang members themselves. Lessons for the lesser experienced users will be available and RZA & special guests will also showcase frequent exhibitions.
In addition to playing Chess, members will be able to communicate with each other via instant messaging and live chat. In order to make his site as user friendly & reliable as possible, RZA has teamed up with ChessPark.com, an already well established on-line Chess community site, to handle the brains & backbone WuChess.
While no official start date for the Chess action has been confirmed, those interested can pre-register now on the site’s homepage. So far 2000 members have already signed up and with the first 500 having received a special ranking of “Founder” along with updates & exclusive Chess related info. A portion of the site’s revenues will be donated to Hip-Hop Chess Federation’s Scholarship fund which is a San Francisco based organisation who aim to “fuse hip-hop, Chess, martial arts to promote unity, strategy & non-violence” amongst America’s Youth. Deep stuff!
So if Chess & hip-hop are your game, sign-up for a challenge www.wuchess.com
