After a somewhat accidental yet incredibly successful beginning, and with a few stumbles along the way, Ruffage is celebrating its second birthday in fine style! Over the past two years we’ve continually strived to challenge people’s perceptions of dubstep as a genre by showcasing acts from across the full spectrum of what we feel is the most exciting music around. To celebrate reaching this landmark, we’re going all out and putting on our biggest party yet by far...
KODE9 (Hyperdub) is arguably the most exciting and important DJ/producer in the scene right now. Owner of the seminal Hyperdub label (home of Burial), he is responsible for crafting some of the greatest dubstep tracks since the scene's inception. With an ever evolving style, Kode has consistently been the innovator that others can only follow. This is only his third appearance in Leeds, and his first as headliner in an intimate venue like Wire. If it wasn’t blatantly clear already, Ruffage is incredibly excited about having Mr 9 playing, and anyone with even a passing interest in bass music would be a fool to miss this set!
ONEMAN (React.FM / FWD>> / DMZ) returns to Leeds just over a year after making his Ruffage debut and is sure to get the crowd moving with his unique DJing style that infuses the finest dubstep and old school garage sounds. In a scene obsessed with dubplate culture, Oneman brings the classics that others leave lurking at the back of their crates. A regular on the London circuit and a representative of the sound since day one, expect pure party vibes. Check:

Fresh from a recent guest mix on Mary Anne Hobbs' BBC Radio1 show, UNTOLD (Hessle Audio/ Boka) makes his Leeds debut at Ruffage with an extra special jungle set. He is set to launch his own label, and with remix work for Boka records and a well-received EP on Hessle Audio in the shops, 2008 is going to be Untold’s year.
RUCKSPIN (Ranking Records/ Central Beatz) is a familiar name around Leeds, and will bring a wide selection of fresh productions by himself and the Ranking Records crew with him to the dance.
Host for the night will be MC ASBO, sure to keep the good vibes flowing inside. And, as ever, High Pressure Sound System will be bringing the required bass weight.
For out of towners:
Wire is about 5 minutes walk from Leeds train station, and about 2 mins walk from Leeds National express coach / bus station
Very cheap 1 quid fares available on the coach from places such as Liverpool, Manchester and even London! Check www.nationalexpress.com
If you're driving there are a few 24 hour car parks extremely close to the club. Go to http://www.ncp.co.uk and enter the postcode LS1 6DN to find the nearest one
Kode9 in a 300 capacity venue on an extremely good soundsystem, in probably the best club in Leeds with cheap drinks...what more could you want!
Oh and also there will probably be some sort of afterparty, so if you need to wait til 6 in the morning or something to get a coach/train back, you'll be sorted
