Vinyl Or Ashtray?

Post by OoGuN » Tue May 06, 2008 8:27 am

May not be interesting to all you jammy lot in the UK who can just stroll down your record shop while having a spl*ff on the way and pick up the latest tunes but...
Just got two mail orders in today from Boomkat and Chemical and as usual, the Boomkat one was way worse packed than the Chemical one. The Chemical vinyl came in a stiff cardboard sleeve with TWO bits of card sandwiching the vinyl. The Boomkat one came in an easily bent envelope and wrapped in some semi-transparent shite that wouldn't stop the tune from being bent (unless it has some magical power I'm missing).
Put the two on my tables and the Chemical one is as flat as :D, while the Boomkat one has got a wobbly warp in it.

So I just wondered who is best.... cause that's where I'm shopping from now on, given that I caught my postie slinging my records from his van to my doorstep not long ago..

Obviously I can only put in the ones I've used, so if you want to add any, post here and I'll add to the list..

bro

use redeye

tunes are cheaper for start and postage is cheaper! AND u just tick a little box saying "insert card stiffeners" and they arrive perfect.

TIP: never buy records as individuals.....thats how u end up with fucked records...its just another parcel and its travelling 12k miles and thru loads of hands.

if i have to buy white labels from odd stores like SOTU, Rooted, Bare Files Shop. I tend to buy 2 or 3 copies of the same tune to guarentee they stay straight and just flog the others to my mates.

only single tune ive got in perfect order was direct from cotti i think
package made of a huggys box haha arrived flat tho

chur chur n all that stuff u kiwis chat haha

SOTU is very good as well.. a bit expensive but very reliable...

btw I think the person who labels the white labels at SOTU has the coolest handwriting ever!

Juno, without a doubt. Buy one record, and it'll arrive as safe as if you'd bought 10. Cheapest records and postage too.

Agree with you on that, i got I don't give a dub gangsta for life and caspa remix of moments of love from them and the writting is pretty swanky if i do say so myself. Alot better then my fucked up writting thats for sure . I would say the best record store for quality quick delivery and Cheapness has got to be chemical records and red eye

If I wasn't so WASTE that I didn't realise you can't add to a poll, I'd have added Hardwax, Rooted, SOTU and of course Blackmarket.

Hmmm..lots of useful info..didn't realise you could choose to have super-packaging from redeye...

@AC23 : That is great advice mate, I'll be on me way to my first million NZ$ soon by buying extras and flogging on to my mates....

ive always used rooted, seeing as i live above the shop. but a friend of mine also in Bristol orders from there because hes a lazy shit and they always come through packaged really well.

whenever i go in there the guys are always sending off shit and they take real good care of the vinyl!

Packaging from Chemical is always solid, and yeah all about ordering the records in two's at minimum for extra support.

Redeye are cheaper, on both points. Singles on redeye are £5.50 while singles on Juno are £5.99 and sometimes more. :?

juno's postage is one of the most exspensive

out of curiousity i added 10 x 12" records to my cart
n it came to £9.90 for rayal mail 1st class

stores like redeye give u free shipping when u buy over 10 vinyls
n a maximum of 2.25 when u order less

10 x vinyl delivered to uk @ chemical only came to £2.00
