Recommend me sunny summer music to DL

Post by corpsey » Thu May 08, 2008 10:57 am

That's right I download music, I'm worse than Hitler in that respect. In almost every other respect I'm nicer though, so do me a favour.

Love Joys - Lovers Rock. Every tune is a percy, but All I Can Say is one of my favourite songs ever. Amazing Wackies produced reggae by two chicks from the 80s...what could be better on a Summer's day??

Whenever it gets sunny, I reach for Buhloone Mindstate and Aquemini.

Some rocksteady is always good as well - Trojan released a double disk that has all the classics on it - Lets Do Rocksteady

I'd recommend the last Quantic Soul Orchestra album 'Tropidelico'

I really like this - like a spanish Person Pitch, and really upbeat (not quite as mental as Boomey's Korean pop though!)

El Guincho - Alegranza!

the new flying lotus album is actually quite summery.
failing that, the best of ethiopiques, fat freddy's drop or roberta flack's 1st album.

Recommend me some summer jazz that isn't 'Kind of Blue'

I love stealing music so much. If I couldn't steal it I'd have to get a bus to HMV right now and spend beer money on CDs

What a horrible world that would be

I always liked Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else

You should grab some Afrobeat - Try the Tony Allen albums from the 70's they are fantastic. Really upbeat, I actually prefer them to Fela.

Sublime is always good summer music... 40oz to freedom.

Also try the Stubborn All Stars for some good ska/rocksteady

Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride to the Pharcyde

A Tribe Called Quest - Beats, Rhymes and Life or Midnight Marauders... actually pretty much any Tribe is good Tribe...
