hi there. In fruity its straight forward enough to right click different aspects of somethnig and click 'create automation clip' but how do i record what i'm changing in vst?

Ive tried highlighting the bit i want, hitting record and moving the knob in the VST but when it gets to the end it always seems to change back to how i started?

Anyone know if im being a retard?

Yeah its a pain in the ass. I havent figured out a general way to do it yet but...

If the VST doesnt have midi learn you will have to manually route your controller to it (if you are not using a controller and just drawinig automation with the mouse I have no idea) and then record that track into a new audio track in another program then drop it back into FL..

Pain in the ass right?

If there is an easier way someone please tell me.

J.

cheers man, yer it sounds a bit gay. If it does have midi lean how do use that?

I've tried it nuff times with another plugin but nothing happens, my controller doesnt do anything. It took me ages just to realise you could link settings in the sample to controllers.

yeah i can help you!

open your VST or VSTi that isn't fruity native, e.g korg ms-20 or albino,

tweak the knob you wish to automate,

click the drop-down menu in the top left of the VST you are using,

click ''last tweaked parameter''

then ''edit events''

...and you can automate in exactly the same way as anything else. look in the production bible for my post on how to add LFOs to edit events windows.

as always, make sure you're on the right channel when you're automating VSTs. you don't want to be on channel 1 (drum loop) automating channel 6 (bassline) or whatever.

hope that helps

ahhh, cheers man, that sounds logical. but....when i click the drop down menu, 'last parameter' is the only one not highlighted. strange.

Be4 u do that u have to highlight the controller you wish to automate or it wont let you select it. So if you want to automate the filer cutoff in the VST then you just move the cut off filter on the VST then go to 'last tweaked parameter' which will then take you to an edit evnts screen.

Are you actually tweaking or adjusting the knob you want to automate prior to going to last tweaked preset? You have to load the VST and adjust the knob you want to automate before the last tweaked preset becomes available. Seems like you aren't actually moving any knob for it to register as a last tweaked preset.

think i know why you're z3ta int working. if u arent using the VST plugin - instead maybe youre using DirectX etc - then last tweaked params wont work. ive just figured it out, although have wasted 2hrs sorting it. altho im in a net cafe in china so it costs fuck all.

so, go to channels -> more, and look on the type of plugin ur using. change it to the one under the 'VSTi' heading, and not the DirX one.
