when i hear jungle i think of the old stuff like urban shakedown, ganja kru, omni trio, m-beat etc etc
or ragga jungle business like congo natty etc
when all the NYC/LA people talk about it are they on about this ^^ or do they just mean what we'd call drum n bass in the UK [i.e newer club stuff/liquid stuff like andy c, dj hype, break, calbre, lynx]?
PS ok lol i know most of those "new" people i listed have been around for ages but yeah you know what i mean

when im talkin bout jungle im definitely talkin about jungle
while i hate to differentiate between the 2 i realize that you could confuse the hell out of someone by saying that "jungle" and "drum and bass" are the same thing , since nowadays they're barely similar except for the tempo

ive noticed that if you were around and goin' to jungle parties in the early-mid 90's then the terms jungle and drum n bass tend to be synonymous, but those that came around a little later after the "name change" seem to differentiate the terms to mean old school (jungle) and nu school (drum n bass). to me they will always be interchangeable. I also think this terminology difference happens more in north america than in the uk. just my two cents...

Its still somewhat interchangeable in LA, but not entirely. Kinda depends on who your talking to...
For me they used to be interchangeable but no longer.

I interchange the 2 all the time..... I mix the old school sounding jungle with drum and bass all the time..... what's the problem? If you can do it, do it. Music is music..... I love how the camps are separated nowwa days.... I think it's retarded, and the downfall of the DNB scene, it should all be "as one". The jungle kids only spin jungle, the breakcore kids spin death metal, the liquid cats spin jazz, clownstep, etc.... spin it all you mofos!!!
