Selector Moldy writes beats and his music is currently forthcoming on his own imprint Heavy Pressure Recordings as well as Thermal Recordings (Oakland, CA), and Counter Intelligence Recordings (Tilburg, NL).

Moldy’s brand of Dubstep has been described as clean, melodic, and cinematic. With beats often leaning into Dancehall Reggae or Hip Hop territory, his tunes drop with an exclamation point; carried by heavy-hitting dub-wise bass lines. Attentive listeners of all genres will be down with the subtle elements he weaves into his productions; music which moves the dancefloor and engages the mind.

His DJ career spans more than 8 years and he has graced the decks in Boston, New York City, and South London at nights including Elements, The Rinse, Runnin’, Pressure Sessions, Acupuncture, Agency, Camouflage, Direct Drive, Homegrown, Konkrete Jungle, Push, Recess, Dub War 4, Dub War 5, and Total Niceness. He has shared the booth with talent including Adam F, Digital, Dara, Clever, Sileni, Juju, Liondub, Loefah, Joe Nice, and Luke Envoy.

Moldy was born and raised in Portland, Maine and currently resides in New York City.

“Most prominent of the new producers is Moldy. While a little sonically clean, Moldy has a good ear for melodies and a healthy work rate.”

Yo Baby (Thermal Recordings, THE023) by Selector Moldy featured on cover mix CD by DJ Clever, The Unsung Heroes of Drum & Bass.

“Maine is useful for vacation, lobster and Selector Moldy. I don’t know where he found this vocal sample, but it really works. It might even be the catchiest vocal sample ever used in a Drum & Bass tune. Coupled with melancholic strings, it will make babes weep.”

-DJ Clever, Offshore Recordings
