indeed.
I only thought the golden section was applied to visuals.

yeah, right? Whats interesting is that before we had the ability to view a whole waveform and "see" music, we would not have known this. Interesting how emerging and new technologies aid us in discoveries that we would have never dreamed of!

this is bloody brillliant - i've studied the golden ratio quite a few times - and i reckon i've listen to the amen break loop for a great number of hours! always wondered why it just sounds so feckin lovely! when i've a phd in physics i'll have to make some music with the golden ration in it.
physics + music = win
it's interesting - we're a bit squashed by being exposed to A4 paper so much, coz its lengths aren't quite at the golden ratio
instead it's cut with a ratio such that when you cut it in half and turn it on its side the ratios are still the same - that's why A5 is exactly the same shape but smaller. [and it's the only ratio that does that]

yeah but the ratio is thrown out the window once the break is cut up?

this is decent. whether or not the 'success' of the amen is down to that ratio is debatable--always just loved how it sounded.
the ratio is equally important as pi.
check BT's 1.618 track. i'm not certain but im pretty sure the ratio has been applied to some of the sounds/structure. if not the sound at least the visuals.
kicks in at about 2:20 if your not feeling the intro.
