Musical Roots

God knows why, should probably have far more important things to worry about, but i was wondering today what everyones kind of pathway to dubstep was? Not so much hwo you found dubstep, but what genres youre musical preference went through on the way?
Personally i think mine was slightly...unusual. First genre i ever really got into was ska really
Give me a break, i was young, i was happy. What can i say!
After that, i regressed i spose into the real stuff. Late 70's and early 80's disco and funk. The real meaty, bowel clenching, eye-watering funk. (And to this day is still what i DJ more often than anything else!)
Then, (through drum and bass) i found my way to Breakbeat and electro (breakbeat being my other DJing selection, and perhaps my favourite genre.)
And it was only through a friend of mine who seemed to discover dubstep at Edinburgh university of all places that he showed me the light by dragging me down to forward. Was stunning.
Anyhoo, enough about me. I was just inerested by what led other people to dubstep.
