Me and the mrs are off to Berlin and Prague next week, if any heads on here know of any good restaurants, bars and clubs within either city and could offer some tips that would be much appreciated.

mate i've been to both cities, you'll have a wicked time in both what ever you do...

I was on a stag weekend in Prague so the only advice i can give here is go easy on the absinth and make sure you take a wonder round the old town across the river..

Berlin is one of my fav places ever... I went with the missus earlier this year. You MUST check out the club Bergain.. http://www.berghain.de/

mainly play techno but there's a dubstep night happening there soon called if your lucky enough to be in the city the same weekend..

Apart from that there's so much to do in this city, if you like a good steak there is an awesome steakhouse (can't remember name but you can't miss it) on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße (near to Alexandraplatz)

A trip to hard Wax is a must for any music fan, they even got chairs for the missus to sit on why you search the racks..

check crossclub in Prague - www.crossclub.cz I think. It's quite far away from the centre but hey - a city is not only the stuff they want you to see. Also Crossclub is the most insane club I've ever been to in my life so it's definitely worth checking.

I'm in Berlin right now, will type a list here of what I would consider must-see here... (hope you adore minimal techno though)

(as Cogent mentioned) --- -Berghain / Panorama Bar --- also check out SUB:STANCE on 11th July there.. but make sure you go there on a techno night especially... that's THE ONE!!

-Bar25 -- also plays minimal... probably best place to go for afterhours chill... like after u been raving at berghain from 6am til 3pm, then hit bar25 or so...

-Watergate --- more touristy but they kill it downstairs usually, upstairs is more your tourist thing... still definately must-check thingie...

-Goldengate --- minimal as well worth checking out, nice smaller place..

-Hard Wax --- for records obviously...

and area wise I would definately go around Kreuzberg and Neukoln... and Friedricshein as well even tho its got a bit trendy and touristy now I hear... still, amazing graffiti n nice lil shops... check out the lil stage Mullerbuhne or whatever its called near the bridge, they might have some live jazz on...

u guys will love Berlin tho -- fantastic city!! personally i'm sooo looking forward to Prague later this summer hopefully

Seconded. Unique venue.

Berlin doesn't really have a centre - everything is dotted about, and if you catch the train from one place to the next you'll miss all the cool stuff in between - so my number one tip would be HIRE A BIKE! It is absolutely the best way to get around town. And it's safe. There are cycle-paths on most of the main roads.

One of the biggest bike-hire chains is Fahrradstation - their branches are listed here.

Once you've got your bikes, you can roam around town. There are four districts worth visiting in the middle of Berlin - Mitte itself is where you'll find a lot of the big touristy things: the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, the Bundestag, Friedrichstrasse, Oranienburgerstrasse (and the Tacheles), and the Tiergarten. Two of the other districts - Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg - are places you'll want to hit at night for clubs and bars. And if you want a change of pace, the prettiest part of town for my money is Prenzlauer Berg - head up Kastanienallee, stop at Prater (an old beer garden) for beer and a sausage, then head for Helmholtzplatz, or the streets around Kollwitzplatz for cafes, bars and restaurants. Seriously - it's a fantastic area.

And if you DO hire a bike, you might want to consider spending some time outside the centre. Berlin's ringed by lakes and there are some great rides to do around the fringes of the city - you can even grab the train out to the SW corner of town and then cycle to Potsdam which is a great place for more sight-seeing.

yep, always good, look out for the barmaid with the pierced nips who always wears a see-through top. it's right next to Holesovice underground station.

you can also look out for another gaff called Akropolis, which is up near Jiriho z Podhebrad metro station, which is quite studenty, has some good music on there. while you're up there there's the tv tower which is worth a look (if it's a nice day), my favourite restaurant Mozaika which is on Nitranska St just next to the tower, and there's a park with a pub in it nearby too.
