With reason, you've gotta play samples through one of the sampler devices.
Create an NN-XT and open the editor. Hit the button with a file on it, and look for your sample.

its quite simple.
open reason>create a nnxt or nn19 advanced sampler.
when dealing with .wav samples you can either use nnxt or nn19. I prefer to use NNXT as it has a better programmer.
Once you've created the device, you need to initialize it. this empties out any loaded samples the device might have. do this by right clicking on it and selecting 'initialize patch'.
Then, with the NNXT, you can upload the sample (.wav or .aiff) by selecting open where the interface is.
with NN19 you just select open next to the interface (the blue/green lighted screen with a digital piano roll) and this allows you to load the sample.
with reason i'd really read the user manuals because making beats with reason requires you to have a decent template. practice makes perfect.

				Sorted it yet -Dubson- ?
Seems odd when you post a simple question, and get 6 different answers.
It's all totally Greek to me - NNXT, NT19 (I thought they were postcodes) !
But I guess you'll sort it out.

if the sample is just gonna be triggered, and u dont ened to play melodies with it etc, I would usually load it as a hit in a redrum drum machine, that way u got another 9 channels in the redrum to load other 1 shot hits.

+1 for using redrum to load samples. lots of fun.
and i hate to be the one to say it, but RTFM. the manual is there for a reason (pun intended). there. i said it. now that it's out of my system...
also check out
www.reasonstation.net. lots of great tutorials, great refills and info. the forum gets a bit wack, but occasionally there is good info there as well.
