safe people i might be going birmingham sometime soon if anyone can help me is their many record shops round the centre?

Not anymore.
Main one has to be Tempest Records = www.temrec.co.uk
Swordfish records if you just fancy browsing through a load of tunes, but their main stock is made up of older music, jazz, reggae, old psyche and things like that.
Then you have HARD TO AFFORD I mean Find records. which is a little bit outside the city centre, not to much but i personally never go there and when i have it has just been a complete mission.
