How many people usualy come out to your events?

We did prolly 150 to the Kode9 show. I know Dave did 200+ in NYC.
The local grime night does anything from 15-75 a night..

depends on the night and the venue...there are times i've played to 20 people...other times...200.

Sounds like our crowds are around the same size... We do an all-local monthly on Mondays, though. I'm hoping if we bring in bigger names on a weekend we can do a lot better than that. We're lucky because Chicago had an excellent drum and bass scene (still going strong) and we can build off that a lot.

I only play once a month at a weekly event. Whats played there is anything from house to mashup. For instance this month (next wednesday) I will play Dubstep along side DJ Flack of
http://mashit.com/ playing his mashup bizness.
Crowds vary from week to week, anywhere from 10 - 100.
Could never pull off a full on night here, tried for 3 years to do a drum&bass weekly, then monthly, then gave up

not too many dubstep headz in boston, tho vex'd and plasticman pulled in a full house and totally tore the place down. abt 75-150 ppl showed ?? i don't know i'm bad with estimates. pretty good numbers for a monday nite no doubt.
there was a grime night that lasted only a few weeks &hardly anyone showed up.. otherwise no weekly events. except beat research (mashit boys c& flack), anything gets played from hip hop to funk to jungle to bashment but lately it's been a lot of dubstep n grime too, been makin me pretty happy : ) anywhere from 5-100 ppl show up to that nite, depending.
i think joenice mentioned, the kode9 gig in nyc was pretty big.

.... check out acts like Taskforce, Klashnekof, Braintax / Low life records, Jehst mark b, .. they are all uk acts.. pretty good too... and you all should of heard of Roots Manuva, Blak Twang, Mr Rodney P and London Possee..
Alot of people get them mixed up.. but go check some of the names above.. you'll hear what gwarn...

Did you actually listen to any of the artists i named? I do agree that pigeon holing music will cause debate, but mate they don't sound that much alike.. trust.... they both deserve their props for the niche's they are filling...

^^^from here in NZ grime sounds exactly like UK version hiphop...
...it doesn't matter if the flow, dialect and accent are different so you call it grime it still sounds like hiphop to me and the attitude matches too
with regards to those artists...
...our hiphop artists also took their time in getting around to formulating a more culturally relevent form of hiphop rather than just cloning afroamericanisms
we didn't give it another name though...

i'm from little town, northern california, and i don't get why dubstep is sometimes grouped with grime. i love both styles, but they are worlds apart many times. grime is like forcing you to nod to every beat, while dubstep is on the half. ???
