recording audio from a mixer

so say you're in a club/somewhere far from a computer and your INNA DI MIXLE wot kind of devices could u use to record the audio comin out of the mixer?
i've had a look around on t'interbizzle but i found nothing so can anyone help me out?
alternatively if i bought a video camera, do they usually have an audio input on them?

well you can either go old school and record via tape, or your best bet is to run it through a computer and record via something like soundforge, or it's free counterpart audacity
and i wouldn't have thought you'd want to record onto a video camera even if it was possible as i would have thought sound quality will be shit

I think he means as an input, not actually capturing the audio.

lol tape is a nice idea i'll try it
the computer idea doesn't work though i've done that before but im looking for a way to do that kind of thing away from where my PC is and i don't have a laptop.

Well actually... VHS is a better sounding format than casette, I remember back in the day homies used to bring a VHS deck and just hook up the audio inputs.
Or alternately, get a MiniDisc recorder - usually around $125 or so US
Or a Gemini iKey - its a lil device that allows you to record directly to an iPod or usb drive.
Casettes are nice and all, but the benifits of using some sort of digital recorder, ie a MD or iKey or other mp3 player/recorder, is not having to re-record things to your computer later on...

Well i WUDA if i didnt get gunfingers to the eye every 3 seconds.
Anyway.. yes get a minidisc player as KL said. thats the best option i can think of, good quality too

Oh, no I completely understand and agree.
Although Von has a point (geddit) about the gunfingers to the eye... you cant even keep em out your own eyes... smh @ that in '08 tbh

I used to use a minidisc player to record mixes before I had a DAW. U can connect it to your out and just hit record. Then transfer to the comp later. Also good for recording when you play out.
