"Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that has its roots in London's early 2000s UK garage scene. The genre's name was coined by Ammunition Promotions. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood, sparse rhythms, and emphasis on bass."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubstep

while bit confusing dubstep is different to "dub". Dub normally refers to dub/reggae which has some obviously simlarities to dubstep bass etc. But is actually different dubstep is born out garage, check the link.

Also i'd recommend havin dig thru the mix section if your lookin for beats  The dub section of this forum basically means unreleased/unsigned tracks.
