im new to dubstep but its the best music ive heard in ages!

i might be opening myself up to criticism here for not being into the music ealier, but we all need an entry point dont we? i read the review of the album by the artist burial the other day, bought it from amazon and have to say it really is a magnificent piece of work! so atmospheric, and haunting, but not so abrasive that you cant play it in company (unlike some of the other things i have been told i would like if i like burial - i did take on some of these tips but have to say, not everything ive downloaded has been to my liking). its actually turning into quite a conversation piece when i have people round for dinner, they always want to know what that lovely music playing in the background is. i dont know about you guys but i predict big things for burial. i think he could be this generations massive attack or portishead or tricky. he really does remind me of the bristol sound. anyway, great album. just wanted to share my joy with some other dubstep fans and thought i would be in good company here.

Burial? Who? Nah i don't think anyone is really feeling that shit!!!
Surely it is LONDON sound....for that bristol feel check out Pinch/hench....a physical space is not a sound. Still that album has certainly got the crossover potential and has awoken a lot to the sound but burial isn't particularly typical of dubstep rather a fragmented take on a collective london sound.
Get it on your coffee table/dinner party now!
Great album of course (one which i go to sleep to) but personally the boxcutter is the one of 2006 for me so far!

thats the one. i usually trust their opinion on most music and have to say, they were not wrong with this one. theyre pretty reliable in recommending a wide variety of music, and burial is just what i was looking for. its quite sorrowful but is great for listening to on the way home from a hard day at work!

thanks for the recommendations! ill be sure to have a look at all those names. i do need a replacement for burial though so im hoping hench and pinch might do the trick. if i play the burial in front of my guests anymore, theyre going to think im a bit obsessed or that my cd collection is limited!
the other good thing ive found about the burial cd though, which im not sure will apply to the other artists youve mentioned, is that its especially good for when youre smoking something a bit stronger than tobacco! when everyone is getting a little lightheaded and passing a joint around, there really is nothing better. especially when that spaceape guy comes in, that really takes it over the edge.

i wouldnt be surprised! my girlfriend read about it in the times and is coming round to it as well now, which is great for me as i dont have to endure her complaints anymore when i play it in the house now! she didnt mind when i played it in front of guests as they all seemed to take a liking to it, but now she doesnt mind me playing it when its just us... so thanks to the times!

if you are enjoyin spaceape - get dubstep allstars 3 - mixed by kode 9 , who is without a doubt one of the more forward thinking producers/djs, and features the spaceape's chats for about half the Cd.
can't reccomend enough.
also check geoim if you are enjoying the lush melodies that burial has allover his album. vinyl only though.
