FRJ001: Various Artists - Frijsfo Beats Vol.1 OUT NOW

Hello everyone, here is almost everything you need to know about the next Frijsfo release. You'll also be pleased to know that once this 12" is on the shelves, all forthcoming Frijsfo records will be catalogued in the usual consecutive way :o

Please show your support! This is especially important as it is the first release for most of these artists - you know the score.

Release Date : October 2008
Label : Frijsfo Beats
Format : 12” Vinyl / Digital
Artists : INNASEKT / LEWIS HUNTER / YAPSTA / CHAV AND DAVE
Cat# : FRJ001
Genre : Dubstep / Grime / 4x4 / Garage

A1: Innasekt – Static http://www.oslek.co.uk/mp3/FRJ001innasektclip.mp3

‘Static' epitomises Innasekt's intense, metallic, and subtly dark sound which they've been developing, as seen on their releases on Red Volume, Sprengstoff, and Rottun Recordings over the past year. The Norwich-based duo (also known for their solo productions under the names Sully and Sneer) have been all over the UK and abroad with their intense and energetic live set, having shared the controls with the likes of Mala, Gatekeeper, Appleblim, and Skream to name just a few. Go and check it out...

A2: Lewis Hunter – Cut from the wreckage http://www.oslek.co.uk/mp3/FRJ001lewingclip.mp3

Lewing's unique take on song structure, coupled with a constantly evolving sound palette are the key in this track. A must for fans of Boxcutter, Murcof, Scan One, Point B, and Atki2. ***EDIT*** 'The Xipec Totec EP' from Seed Records will no longer feature 'Cut from the wreckage' due to Seed postponing it's release. Not to worry, the track will still be released digitally on the digital release of FRJ001.

B1: Yapsta – Zoompy Riddum http://www.oslek.co.uk/mp3/FRJ001yapstaclip.mp3

Yapsta (aka DJ Shnyde / 2snide) has been heavily involved in underground dance music for years, particularly for his involvement in Harmitage Shanks from day one and is well-known for his quick and technical mixing skills on the decks, playing his own mixture of vocal and instrumental grime, dubstep, dark garage and anything else he feels like throwing in.

Yapsta's contribution to Frijsfo Vol. 1 is a dark bassline / 4x4 garage production that has been tearing up dancefloors on dub of late. None of the cheeky pop bassline sound to be heard here.

B2: Chav and Dave – Macked Out (It's My Night To Fight Mix) http://www.oslek.co.uk/mp3/FRJ001chavanddaveclip.mp3

Epic grime instrumental produced by DJ Dave Awesome (aka Accelra) of Chav and Dave. Filtered Reese bass with intricately produced wonky 2step beats is the part of their sound heard here. Watch out for a full EP from them on Frijsfo Beats later featuring more instrumentals, live recordings and a very special guest remix. Those who have witnessed the comedic live rantings of MC Chav over these beats will have experienced the true UK Carnage sound, "taking the sound of the summer to the streets with grimey ASBO beats, and basslines that make girls slip off their seats." Chav and Dave inject a healthy dose of irony and sarcasm into an often too serious scene, but the production values on display are not to be laughed at. Rob Booth played this track on his excellent radio show the other day too (which also featured a set from Al Haca - http://electronicexplorations.org/t...ek-033-al-haca

DJ support for tracks on this release comes from Oslek, 2snide, Damo, Wascal, Scan One, Stasis Collective, Blazey, Sully, Hard Target, RSD...

nice ep :)
That Lewis Hunter track is amazing, although it reminds me much more some Squarepusher experiments than Murcof or Boxcutter.

while I'm on it, I previewed these tracks on boomkat
http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=143495
but I wonder if there isn't a problem with Chav & Dave track, as it's cut before the 5th minute mark apparently when you click on play (Boomkat usually lets the tracks run till the end instead of the usual 1-2mn samples on other sites, instead they add a heavy buzzing noise every 30s to prevent smartasses dump audio :) )
In short , I wonder if the 4th track is complete in the digital release...
