Yeah, I heard about this at work..shame most people had no knowledge of his time in Pink Floyd...

I love Pipers and his solo stuff (however patchy)..the quintessential english eccentric.

RIP Syd.

This has put a kink in my heart and my head is tingling in that "connected to the souls that have passed" kinda way. This will definitely affect my set 2night @ NarcoHz on a collective subconscious level. Even though my set has little to do w/ pf, their inspiration on my music is unsurpassed. I will prolly close with...

Astronomy Domine
(Barrett) 4:12

Lime and limpid green, a second scene
A fight between the blue you once knew.
Floating down, the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground.
Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda
And Titania, Neptune, Titan.
Stars can frighten.

Blinding signs flap,
Flicker, flicker, flicker blam. Pow, pow.
Stairway scare Dan Dare who's there?
Lime and limpid green
The sounds surrounds the icy waters underground
Lime and limpid green
The sounds surrounds the icy waters underground.

Hey, I'm only just 35 (and not at all feeling like some oldster either), so by your estimation that would only give me another 25 years!
:o

I'd quite like to be around until at least my eighties - and still churning out tunes too, much like Steve Reich, who's now 'just' 70.

I reckon the Diabetes got Syd in the end, ironically, rather than the substance abuse, although that probably contributed.

60 is quite young to go. I think id like to go a little latter. My dads nearly 70 and he's stompin. Young man in heart/ soul.

I'm feelin' that comment!

As I've said before, we've got a sixty something in the drumming band I play with here and he's got as much energy as any of us youngsters, so, yeah, 60 is a relatively early age to pop off at.

He also does Wild West re-enactments, which is blinding!
Haven't seen him doing this yet, but would love to, as it sounds like fun.
:D

I reckon if you look after yourself, get regular exercise (walking/cycling to places rather than driving or taking the bus helps), you can improve your chances of living to a ripe old age.

I reckon a positive outlook on things helps too, so you don't get as stressed about everyday shizzle, as it's been proven in in psychology and physiological surveys that having too much of those "fight or flight" hormones swilling around your veins can really shorten your lifespan.

If you're feeling some stress,
Be sure it's expressed,
Don't bottle it up,
Just let it erupt!!

A little lyric there...
