DFRNT - Aftermath / The Next Step [new tracks & 320s]
2 new tracks, taking my sound in a slightly different direction.
The Next Step - a slow plodding track with warm open synths, and a high-end sparkly sound for melody. The drop provides a slow growling bassline, which never quite emerges from the shadows.
and
Aftermath - This sort of stabbed-out track with warm synths leading the sound, and some guitar-licks to provide something of a melody. Deep & dubby.
I've gone for the really dubbed-out chilled ethereal electro type stuff with these. Basically I've been enjoying a lot of stuff on Modern Love records, and artists like Andy Stott, Claro Intellecto, Quantec and Basic Channel stuff. As a result I wanted to transfer some of that feeling in to my new productions, so the result is these two (and possibly more in the future).
I'd say they were both more headphone orientated tracks, and definitely ones that require a little concentration, as opposed to a quick flick-through, or dance floor tracks.
It would be great to hear what people thought...

The MySpace tracks are 160k in the player - but 320s are available on request to those wanting the full experience.
Alex / DFRNT.

really love the atmospheric intro and the nice build up in "the next step".
the niceness continuess through the track, nice chilled out vibe!
"aftermath" sounds like it's comin' straight outta an original dub box.
nice "reggae" effects, more chilled like "the next step"... outro style..
really likin' the new tracks. i think you can do no wrong.
how about a really nice hard track like "duty free" or "catch me" for the next time?

I've been tempted to go for a really nutty hard track, but I'm lacking inspiration on those departments at the moment. I do fancy working on something for my DJ sets, but I don't want to resort to just firing out some wub-wub if you know what I mean. It's got to really hit home!
both of these are quality tunes, wake up people. 320's please!
will definitely drop these on the show: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=57051
