is there anything better than the krk rp6 in this range?

is it true that they "kill" lot of low frequencies??
thx!

I love mine but then again I don't make much dubstep so I don't have that much experience of any low frequencies potentially being killed. Go into a shop with a CD and listen for yourself. I'd heard good things about Alesis monitors at around the same price but when I got in there I thought they were too boomy. What I'm trying to say is don't believe everything you read, believe what you hear.

I usually have to turn up my EQ a little to get the bass in, but the new Rp6's are well worth the money. After you get used to them the bass wont even bother you. I only use them whilst mixing, and not for production.

The KRK's are very HiFI-ish so dont go down that rout if you want total flat response
Maybe look to save up a bit more and go down towards the Adam A5s or Genelec 8020's , it will be worth it!

I just picked up the Mackie MR5's. I listened to them in the store next to the KRK's and I think they sound a lot better. Mine were about $400 for the pair. Listening to them now and they sound fat. Nice low end, not muddy. Lovin them so far.

I have some Alesis M1 Active 520's, to be honest, i wouldn't recommend them. They don't give off enough bass. when i mix down, it sounds great, but when export and play on my CDJ's and it's far too bassy and i have to keep going back to the project to sort it out. annoying.
I've heard great things about Mackies

I own the HS50's and I'm quite fond of them. The only problem is that they don't go below 40hz, but it's not that much of a problem once you get to know things and use your headphones a bit.

I own them too since 1 year, they are great, very accurate. Same remark about the low frequencies. HS10W sub could be added later.

disagree. they sound nothing like hi fi speakers, to my ears anyway - i assume you mean they sound like a 'smile curve'.
they might not be as flat as the adam or the genelec, but that wasn't the question, was it?

i cant stand the sound of the KRK's personally, ive only got Alesis MK2's, but for the price they sound way big. they were worth the $300 investment.
