Is that used to run a whole mix thru or just on some sounds?

both.

definitely not a 'transparent' plug tho. it'll do more to the sound than just chop the peaks.

george wong's W1 limiter. free copy of the waves L1. look for it on the web.

Been looking for an alternative to VW, that W1 looks like it could be just the job, thanks.

meaning, it adds it's own character to the sound, it doesn't just do a job.

i generally run all my mixes through this, but not like a limiter. i don't slam it, because it's not really like tape, it just emulates it. so i will turn all my volumes down and then use this to boost it very slightly -OR- use this just to make sure no clipping occurs.
