PA Sound System

Post by metaverse » Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:59 pm

Hi

This is my first post so I wanna say a quick thanks for manifesting this place in cyberspace ...

I'm writing because in a few months i'm going to be starting a monthly [which hopefully will become a bi-weekly] out here in massachusetts.

The main issue is a proper sound system ... and the priority is on the bass bin ... I'm looking to get as much bang for my buck as possible but i dont really know exactly where to start ... I've been kicking around the www.diyaudio.com forums for a day or so but haven't really narrowed anything down just yet.

I want to spend a maximum of 2k USD on speakers and amps ... I'm thinking a 4x15" bassbin and a pair of loudspeakers on stands , kind of like those run of the mill mackies/jbl's you see at every bar with a mini dancefloor that dont have SHIT for low end and pisses me off everytime i SEE them let alone hear them ... It enduses anger to the point of wanting to smash them [and the dj] with a baseball bat :D

I'm not goin out like that ...

Any info or advice is greatly appreciated

is the place to go. Check the forum out for some serious PA geeks.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

if you can, or have someone whos good with wood (insert joke here), go for the T36. Its a single 15" horn that takes about 300 watts to be almost as loud as a JBL dual 18". big cabinets though, but WELL worth the money, high dollar to db ratio here.

i change my suggestion. go for the t30's instead (if youre considering building). theyre 6 inches shorter and 6 inches less deep, and put out almost the exact same sound (-1 or 2db, big deal).

i was driving myself crazy looking at charts and comparisons last night.
