Dubstep Event In Kent??

I have been DJing & promoting drum n bass nights around Kent and the south east now for a few years and have recently moved over to dubstep.
I am thinking of promoting a dubstep night in and around the medway towns however im not sure on the popularity and appeal.
Do you think this will be a hit or miss?
Other areas include dartford, gravesend, canterbury....
There just hasn't been much hype over dubstep around Kent

yeah kent is pretty dry overall for dubstep...it seems like most heads are abit slow and are stuck a few years behind other areas...
be happy helping you break the sound in the area though man...if you need good dubstep dj's let me know...

Yea for real you should create some hype.
And plus J Kenzo, Roddy Alzlan and them lot I think are from around that way so could book them to play at your event and it would be convenient for them and you then that would get the ball rolling.

Seen as i'll be in the Uni if you want i can help promote it for you in anyway you want help is at hand.
Im heavily looking to move it forward in the Kent area, mostly converting DnB head like yourself, there the easiest.
I don't know where Medway is as i've only been kent once but im there for you mate as soon as i arrive in at uni on the 20th of this month i'll look into the area and any existing dubstep fans.

Thats easy to get to for anyone who can get to London Bridge, its actually quite easy for me to go get to Dartford, easily than Shoreditch.
They'd be a lot of heads round here who'd be on that.

kent would be sick, espeically in medway towns(im in sittingbourne), theres a bar on island of sheppey, the ivy leaf,
http://eurobars.net/ivyleafbar/ that has quite a few drum and bass nights, would be sick to have a dubstep night there too...
big ups

Big up D_Low for the idea of getting a dubstep night started in Kent
Kent really needs a session supporting dubstep music, but it doesn't seem like people are interested in coming down and supporting when a dubstep dance is put on
Myself and Rod Azlan put on an event in Gravesend back in April '07 check the link:
http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=15484
but unfortunatly the night wasn't busy enough for the club, and we never found a good enough underground venue to carry it on
Medway could be a good look as there are alot of d&b heads switching to dubstep plus there is a good group of seasoned dubstep heads there already, but apart from the pulse (chatham) there is not to many venues that can cater with the sound aspects that dubstep needs
Canterbury could be a good look as it has a good fan base for dubstep already but i'm not familar with the venues around that way
But just to recap Kent
DOES NEED a dubstep night, lets see if we can put our heads together and get something rolling...! i'd be happy to help out
Nuff Respect

Canterbury wouldn't work. There's only 2 clubs, both geared for the students, it's the pub trade which is stronger there.
Any true dubstep heads would take the short-ish train into London.
Not meaning to play it down but i think it just wouldn't work.

I wouldn't want to see this happen, so fully checking out the Dubstep scene i think is the best move.
Me and my pal are going Kent uni in a few weeks and im lookin to check out the Dubstep scene there and ask around see whats going on.
I might try the old facebook group.

im glad to see people wanting a dubstep night in Kent
the pulse in chatham is shut down now otherwise would be ideal, if a bit of a shit hole.
maidstone venues seem to be more up for putting nights on but the people out dont expect dubstep or grime etc.
im grateful for all the support shown ere will get back soon

There is a few heads around feeling dubstep in kent hiding in the corners of the other bars/clubs wishing there was a dubstep night in kent.
i know quite a few that are interested in dubstep but aint up for the mission into london or down to brighton.
So i think a night would be good, source bar in maidstone are doing a grime night soon so might be an idea to talk to them.
