Hey guys this is my first post but I've been lurking for a while.

Does anyone know of any good resources for trumpet/brassy samples?

Cheers!

Welcome! :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course the obvious answer is to record live instruments, although I understand that this isn't aways possible.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although they won't be free, check out the East West sample range (http://www.eastwestsamples.com/).

Also worth checking through is the back catalogue of Computer Music magazine... I recall they've put plenty of brass samples on their DVD cover mounts in months by gone......

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are a couple of VST synths that emulate wind and brass instruments.

One that springs to mind is Saxlab 2 (http://www.linplug.com/Instruments/SaxL ... xlab_2.htm), although others do exist....

If you check this thread on KVRaudio maybe you'll find what you are looking for? ---> (http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=re ... =1&rpp=100)

Tell us what you find. :)

Cheers man. Yeah I would love to record a nice jazzy part myself unfortunatly the only trumpet player I know is 200 odd miles away! (Just moved to London from Manchester!)

I'll check that stuff out.

more than likely a bit of a far fetched option but...

get yourself a good physically modeled brass synth and then get yourself a Midi Wind Controller...make more horn samples than you can shake a stick at.

I find old dub/reggae tracks are a goldmine for these sounds. Look for solos/breakdowns. The advantage of this is they come with their own analogue grittyness.
